How has summer been treating you so far my butterflies? - what can I say, I have been so busy living my life that it's left me with less time than usual to blog about it. A very good problem to have.

I am a long standing member of Influenster, and normally get to dive into my Influenster 'Vox Box', the moment they arrive, but these last two were a bit different.

The first one literally got lost in the mail, but luckily I have a great Mail Carrier and was able to enlist his help, the box was beat up, but thankfully the contents weren't destroyed and finally arrived safely, sadly quite a bit after deadline. While you all know I am diametrically opposed to doing free work on my blog and then be given a deadline to boot, I do try my best to keep campaign goals in mind, especially for Influenster as they have always been really good to me!

The second box required a 14 day testing period, so I am coming at you with TWO Influenster boxes today instead of one.

The first contained Smashbox Cover Shot Eye Palette (Metallics) and Be Legendary Liquid Lip (Crimson) and the second contained L'Oreal's Revitalift Triple Power Deep Acting Moisturizer. They are combined below:

MY TAKE:

So here is the scoop:

I have to start with the lippie, This liquid lip formula glides on with the full coverage of a lipstick and the high shine of a gloss in a single coat. If you are a long time reader you know that I wear red or a variation of it DAILY but I normally customize it myself - it is a mix of two lipsticks and a particular gloss (Duwop's Lip Venom) which I enjoy taking time with to get the blend that compliments my Latina skin tone. The Be Legendary Liquid Lip is what I would consider the 'night' version of my custom lip blend as it's more high gloss with a unique sheen that is perfect! While I wear reds, wines or crimson daily it might be too strong a color choice for most by day, but it gives me the look that I spend a lot of time customizing myself right out the tube, so SCORE! YES! YAS! and PERK! (Note: If you read the reviews, many find this too sticky - they are going for a very high gloss look with this one, it is not a full on lipstick nor is it a matte). If this lipgloss were a person, she would be vampy, very life of the party, heads will turn. This lipgloss is a 'boss b*tch' and she is leaving the party with a purse full of digits, just saying.

The Smashbox Cover Eye Palette quickly became a fave for the unique optical illusion which doesn't photograph well, maybe I should have done a quick video so you can see it, but you stay for the adaptable colors and thankfully their site offers some daytime vs night time looks created with the very same palette I received. I wish I would have gotten it in 'Smoky' because I have gotten way better at a smoky eye, but the metallic grey in the palette I received is worth the price of admission as far as I'm concerned. I also greatly appreciate the size of this palette as a travel lover, this eye palette is perfectly portable - not too big, not too small.

We are no stranger to Smashbox on Ascending Butterfly, I am a big fan, their products are always perfectly pigmented, I get great wear and they rarely ever 'melt off' - girls you know what I mean, the struggle is real, especially right now in summer, especially if your skin type leans toward oily.

Skincare: The L'Oreal Revitalift Challenge was a fun one, this moisturizer definitely lives up to it's name, it is called "Triple Hydration" and it certainly delivered. It is thick, so a LITTLE goes a long way. You are getting great value with this moisturizer because you really don't need to use much per application. I was reading up on the reviews on this and I did like some of the ideas that for those who found this too thick they used it as a night cream instead of by day and that is what made most sense to me as I already have BB Creams or light foundations with SPF I use by day (or often use Mineral Makeup Foundation) so I don't want a day cream that is going to fight with the skin care and makeup routine I already use. I also thought the reviewer that mentioned that she not only used it at night instead of by day, but also waited at least fifteen minutes before letting her head touch the pillow also made sense.

There is a good reason why I have been with Influenster so long (I think they actually pre-date my blogging), their boxes always contain quality products and their site is full of honest reviews from folks from all walks of life, and to answer that million dollar question, Influenster "Vox Boxes" are NOT just for bloggers, you can NOT be a blogger and still sign up for Influenster and get boxes, I was before I started blogging and after all these years still get that same 'kid at Christmas' time rush when a signature Influenster Box shows up at my door.

Influenster is also a community, so you can ask questions on their forums which is helpful, and I can tell you the reviews are brutally honest, no one holds back, and it gives you great buying guidance, which I hope I am also doing for you!

Just remember, you don't get every box program they offer, and you can go a long period with a dry spell where you don't qualify for a campaign. I want to say it's 'nothing personal' but to a degree it is, the brand is looking for a particular demographic and Influenster then vets their database against a client's criteria. Some demographics are based on age, so you aren't going to get a "College Vox Box" if you are well past College age. I know, many adults are in College too, but those boxes usually have a specific age range in mind.

And then when you least expect it, you qualify for three campaigns back to back like I did this summer, I have another box I am dying to tell you about! But this one is in it's own category and definitely needs its own day in the sun.

My best way to give you an idea of how much I like a product, would I re-buy them all if they weren't 'gifted'? Yes I would. But I put 'gifted' in quotes because product reviews are HARD work, they are time consuming and can sometimes feel very much like a labor of love. When you work with a brand like Influenster that takes time to get to know your preferences and what you are jazzed about it makes things a whole lot easier. And when a box knocks it out out the park, even better!

Remember Influenster is not a subscription service, you can't "BUY" an Influenster Box, you have to 'earn' them by filling out an accurate profile and following the campaign guidelines.

I have tried out some not so stellar subscriptions boxes lately, so bad in fact, that I just haven't had the same rush/thrill I usually get when a new one arrives. I know the normal reaction would be 'Yay! A box full of stuff!', but when you have to go back and write about it and realize that not as much of it worked for you as you originally thought it would, it gets harder to drum up the same enthusiasm you had when you first open it. For those boxes I opted to follow our parents age old advice about when you don't have something nice to say....(don't say anything at all.)

Thankfully Influenster saved the day with a box I could get jazzed about!

My Take:

This box knocked it out the park because absolutely everything was truly useful for me. Most people aren't quick to take the plunge with subscription services because they are always afraid the makeup will be some garish color they'd never wear, or they will get a ton of products they don't use. And I can understand that as I for one don't like when boxes come with self tanner as I have color and I don't need self tanner products. But with this box Influenster definitely hit a home run. We are now in fall and my high heel boots are coming out of the closet, and the Dr. Scholl's inserts have made all my favorite boots that much more comfortable. I already use Dr. Scholl's in my flats and sneakers and love that they know have insoles made for heels as well. I use them in my high heel shoes and now for fall will put them inside my boots with heels as well. SCORE!

I loved the gentle detangler brush as well from Goody, I am 'tender headed' and I hate getting my hair tugged at to detangle it, this makes it much easier to detangle my hair without the need to use extra product to do the job. I have fine, thin hair so I hate having to add a detangler product to my hair which weighs it down, so I am definitely loving this brush and haven't stopped using it since I got it! I'm going to run out and get these for my nieces and nephews because like me, they hate getting their wet hair detangled! I have a feeling they are going to love the Goody detangler brush and how gentle it is just as much as I do! SCORE!

The Olay Shine Minimizing Cleanser is just up my alley as I have oily skin, and usually have to use a mattifying product under my Foundation. I am using this with a cleansing brush and together they have been an amazing one-two punch for my face! (I will definitely share more about the brush soon, in fact you are going to have a chance to win it too so stay tuned!). SCORE!

The New York City Sparkle Dust is perfect for a night on the town, I do use a primer first and then apply this slightly wet for a more dramatic eye look. I will try to get a picture of just my face close up when I am wearing this so you can get an idea of how it works against my skin. I'm a beige/sand in many foundations and have hazel eyes. I don't do dramatic eyes too often, but when I do, I love this Smokey Topaz Color! SCORE!

Last but certainly not least was the Suave Professionals Moroccan Styling Oil. This styling oil definitely gives you that 'fresh out of the salon' feel AND smell. For my thin hair with most styling oils a very little always go a very long way with me, and this one is the same, I don't need to use much at all, especially if my hair is still damp. I also love to put it on my ends post styling for a little extra gloss/shine and especially on my bangs after I have flat ironed them. (My bangs are grown out right now, but I do plan to cut them again, so when I do I'll take a close up shot of them with a drop of this on it!). SCORE!

Everything in this box particular box was perfect for me, and the folks at Influenster have certainly set the bar high for the next box! I am so bummed I wasn't able to attend the twitter party they held to celebrate the #ParadiseVoxBox, because I certainly really loved this one! I wouldn't hesitate to fully recommend any of the products in this box!

Wordless Wednesday: Check out what was in my #ColgateTotalMW @Influenster Box!

I am a member of Influenster and I find that the boxes are a great way to discover new products from brands I already know and sometimes from brands I don't. I use Colgate Total Toothpaste, and was surprised when this box arrived from Influenster to learn that they have a Mouthwash for it now! While City living has it's perks, one of the major drawbacks about Apartments in my city is that they are super small, most appliances are outdated or worse still there just isn't enough space to have every appliance in a kitchen that is already severely cramped for space as it is.

One of the things I have had to do without is a dishwasher. It's an appliance I'd love to have don't get me wrong, there just really isn't anywhere to put it, basically it's a washing machine or a dishwasher and I opted for the washing machine leaving me to wash dishes by hand. Day after Day. Month after Month. Week after Week. Year after Year. Monotonous Much?

So you now know exactly why I never get jazzed about Manicures or painting my nails, all that work or money spent and they aren't going to last long with my hands in water all the time.

Another negative about dish washing is just how dry it leaves your hands feeling when you are done!

And that's where Influenster comes to the rescue, I received another box of love from my friends at Influenster. This one was actually too big for my mailbox, and when I got the slip to pick it up at the post office, I wasn't expecting just how heavy the package would be! And if the box didn't have a big ole clue I would have been wondering all the way to the train station what it was as I picked it up on the run on my way to an event in the City.

Let's face it butterflies, into everyone's day Chores must fall. Just because we don't want to do something doesn't mean we can get away with avoiding it. I for one can't leave dishes in the sink overnight, actually I can't leave them between meals either, I'm a dirty a dish, clean it as soon as you are done kind of girl. And while I don't find doing the dishes fun in the least, I make the best of it with my music on, and now I have a new solution for the dreaded 'dishpan hands' syndrome.

While Influenster intended me to share by sending me two, I will admit to a very much not like me bout of temporary dishes selfishness! I kept both of them to myself!

Normally I don't even have to be told to share, but these were just so awesome I had to try them both out! The pink bottle is Palmolive Soft Touch Vitamin E formulated for Soft Hands, and the blue bottle is Palmolive Soft Touch with Aloe formulated for Dry Skin. (For those interested there is a third formulation, with Cocoa Butter!)

And much like real 'twins' I am actually hard pressed to pick a favorite from the bunch! They both get my dishes clean and don't dry out my hands which makes me super happy! I'm not going to tell you they make dishes less of a chore, but they sure don't leave you with 'dishpan' hands! I still have a favorite moisturizer on my sink because I love putting on a skin oil or moisturizer when my skin is still damp, but on days when I'm in a rush or forget to put on the additional moisturizer my hands are still soft!

You know I love to do my research and keep track of ways to keep things Green, so for those of you thinking 'butterfly, I like the idea of Palmolive but I have an all Eco Kitchen, can I still use Palmolive?', the answer dear butterflies is a resounding YES! If you are all Eco, all the time, then Palmolive Eco + Lemon Splash may be better for you!

For fellow Influenster Members who say they never get picked, don't give up, keep being your fab and social self, because sometimes I go months and months between Influenster boxes, and then some months you get surprised with TWO boxes in the same month! BAM! SCORE!

If it's true that good things come in two's, then May has been a good mail month indeed! :-)

Don't you just love getting boxes overflowing with goodies? I know I do. There is something about this whole 'box a month' phenomenon that is slowly but surely winning me over! Whether it's filled with old favorites or soon to be new favorites, it's like a celebration in a box! We spend so much time taking care of responsibilities and being sensible, that's it's fun to find something that gives you a moment to feel sort of like a kid again!

Ƹ̵̡Ӝ̵̨̄Ʒ - Secret Outlast Clear Gel Antiperspirant - I'm already a Secret user but hadn't yet tried the Gel, the great thing about the Gel Formula is that it leaves no white residue on clothes, this one falls under the 'Strong Protection' category on Secret's Website, and says it offers up to 48 hours of odor protection, I will never find that out, and hopefully no one will test that claim out because that means not washing under your arms for 48 hours! EWWW! :-)

Ƹ̵̡Ӝ̵̨̄Ʒ - NYC New York Color Applelicious Glossy Lip Balm - With NYC being called 'The Big Apple' it's only fitting that this apple scented gloss with an apple in the center be included in my VoxBox as I'm NYC based. That definitely brought a smile to my face, and my lips, no pun intended! With ingredients like Shea Butter, Jojoba Oil, Vitamin E and Avocado Oil, I know I'm doing something good for my lips when I put this on!

Ƹ̵̡Ӝ̵̨̄Ʒ - Broadway Nails imPRESS Press-on Manicure - I'm usually more of a solids girl when it comes to my nails, but since I have a dress that matches this pattern, I was pretty excited to see these. I have super short nails so these are perfect for me, but if you have long nails, you may have to trim yours a bit before applying. They last about a week, which is what most regular nail polish would last on me also, so definitely no complaints there. My nails are usually pretty stubby and super short, so these are perfect when I want some length or when I'm dressed up and want to look especially girly.

Schwarzkopf Professional OSiS+ Rough Rubber Texture Paste 50ml

Ƹ̵̡Ӝ̵̨̄Ʒ - Schwarzkopf Professional OSiS+ Rough Rubber Texture Paste 50ml - The Rough Rubber Texture Paste gives you a moldable, matte look with strong hold. As I have very fine hair, this is perfect for when I cut bangs, it gives strong hold but it's moldable and not stiff like some strong hold hairsprays would be.

Ƹ̵̡Ӝ̵̨̄Ʒ - TastyKake Kandy Bar Kakes - These offer the best of both worlds, the taste of a candy bar with the freshness of a TastyKake! Chocolate enrobed cakes with a creme filling in a unique Kandy bar shape. They are available in S'mores, Peppermint and Peanut Butter, thankfully I got Peanut Butter because I hate S'mores! I ate mine the same night, it was the perfect late night snack!

My Take:

I enjoyed getting the chance to try these products out, for the ones that were entirely new to me, I may not have thought about getting them so having a chance to try them this way was a great way to discover a new product! And since I'm pretty bad about keeping up with my nails and I'm always typing so they get pretty beat up, it's been fun getting a chance to play with the Broadway Nails! My favorite is probably the Secret, because I regularly use it anyway, but I also liked the new Gloss as well. And like many writers who gets my best work done late at night when the rest of the world is quiet, I definitely enjoyed my TastyKake Kandy Bar!

I've been using a skincare regimen that's been really showing positive results for me and I just had to share it with you!

My Take:

I normally like to let each product have it's own day in the sun and feature them seperately, but because they have worked so well for me using them daily in tandem, I had to share them with you together. The day serum isn't cheap at $90 for the 1 fl oz, but for me price isn't nearly as important as efficacy is. This product works, and I noticed a difference immediately, and on the few days that I don't use it, I notice it and that says alot because I'm using quality cosmetics. So if on a day I don't use the serum I can still notice a difference made up, then that's proof in the pudding it's doing what it says it does! What I love is that a very little goes a long way with this. My skin is oil/acne prone and this did not clog my pores and just makes my skin feel incredible and the firming properties are really noticeable!

As you guys know I have been testing Aveeno Active Naturals before receiving this wonderful bundle of love from Influenster (which included a sleep mask, how cute is that?), you can read HERE for our previous coverage of the line, but I can tell you that despite using such a phenomenal serum by day, after I wash off my makeup when I go to put my Aveeno Active Naturals Intensive Night Cream on, my skin literally drinks it in! I love the scent and even make sure to put it on my neck and decolletage at night too! It makes my face feel softer and smoother and in a very short time I noticed a difference in brown spots and my skin's luminosity. I have a lot of brown spots and acne scars which I normally cover up with makeup if I get enough time before running out the door in the morning. With  this night cream I actually feel like I'm addressing the problem in a way that makes a more permanent difference than makeup can alone. And at $16.99 for the 17 oz jar this one is definitely a steal!

These are both working very well as a skin 'tag team' of sorts! And considering my skin is oily/acne prone, I love that neither one clog my pores, nor do they make my skin feel greasy in any way. On days where time is crazy and I forget to use either one I do see a difference and it's a great reminder to stick to this effective skin care routine!

AVEENO Daily Moisturizing Body Wash: I'm a long time AVEENO lover, I find that it keeps heat rash under control, and can prevent it if you begin using it just before you would normally start breaking out. I have always found AVEENO to be gentle and soothing for my skin. This one has a light fragrance, it's soap free, dye-free and hypoallergenic so it's safe for sensitive skin.

Dr. Scholl's For Her Ball of Foot Cushions: For some odd reason, my favorite sandals all gave me ball of foot pain last summer. Not my heels, but my sandals. Sandals which I wore because I didn't want to wear heels those days so I could be comfortable, and I got back home in pain. Well not this summer! These are going into my sandals so I can actually enjoy them and having cool, comfortable feet during this intense summer heat. These also help prevent that annoying toe scrunch thing when your foot slips forward in the shoe (which is what causes the ball of foot pain). And like all Dr. Scholl's products these are removable without damage to the shoe! Now I don't have to toss my favorite leather sandals in this cool green that I have a handbag in the matching color to go with it, that's a WIN/WIN!!!!

Sally Hansen Salon Effects: Can you say nail polish with NO drying time? Ka-Ching! It wears like nail polish because it is nail polish, apply and you are ready to go with no drying time, is that cool or what?

SOYJOY Bar: Real fruit and whole soy = energy sustaining deliciousness!

Bath & Body Works Fine Fragrance Mist: OK, no pun intended but when I saw this it made me misty because my dad's nickname for me as a baby was Sweet Pea, so when I saw the name of the scent it kinda made me a little nostalgic! I mean of all the scents they could have sent, they sent ME Sweet Pea. This is so yummy for after bath that I am nervous I'm going to run out super quick!
