Review of Symantec Norton Internet Security 2010

I recently upgraded my desktop and the antivirus and firewall protection that I enjoyed through my Internet Service Provider was no longer compatible with my new computer's operating system. I was shocked. I haven't had to go shopping for PC security software in awhile and I had no clue where to turn.

I was delighted when Viewpoints asked me to test out Symantec Norton Internet Security 2010. I was also quite nervous. I had used Norton in the past and wasn't exactly delighted by that experience. I found the first go around with Norton to be a system drain that really slowed my PC down and I didn't find the interface to be very user friendly back then.

It had been years and I wondered if anything had changed. I was also terrified to put my brand new desktop with all it's bells and whistles in the hands of a program I hadn't used in so long!

After making sure I completely removed all traces of my former internet security suite, I installed Symantec's Norton Internet Security 2010. To my delight its interface was incredibly user friendly, and the process was quick and painless.

I knew the true test would be whether or not it slowed me down, and whether or not my system was safe. and I am happy to report my answers are NO and YES. It has been just under 2 months now, and I am a power user with multiple programs running simultaneously including the internet, and Norton has not slowed me down one bit, not even during FULL system scans. My new blazing fast desktop, is still blazing fast, and virus free! (I'm knocking on wood now, OK so I'm a bit superstitious, why tempt fate?)

If like me your first go around with Norton was not love at first sight, Try again. I have a feeling you will be pleasantly surprised, I know I am.

For those of you who have been the victim of identity theft, you know just how important it is to be sure your PC is secure. Now-a-days how you choose to protect your PC is just as important if not more so, than the make/model of the PC you choose.

Did anyone catch Norton on Celebrity Apprentice last night? (I like the new bundling of Norton with Life Lock!) It was fun watching the teams create an 'advertorial' - I won't say who got fired for those who Tivo'd it and haven't watched it yet. (Did I just make Tivo a verb?)
