Winner Announcement! + #Giveaway Reminder!

The New Year is now in full swing, how is it treating you so far butterflies?

We closed our holidays buying guide with the biggest giveaway for a BOB Stroller from Britax! And we have a lucky winner to announce!

Kelley R., Entry #1533 is our winner! Please join me in congratulating her!

And because a lot of new people came in for this giveaway, I want to post a reminder that bears repeating. While some people select a winner in rafflecopter and then see if that person completed all the entries correctly, I do the exact opposite. I do check each entry individually. Which means that entries that do NOT qualify, are deleted BEFORE I even draw the winner. I only think it's fair that the only entries in the running for a draw are all qualified ones. That makes it fair for everyone. So for those of you who press every entry in rafflecopter and leave them all blank. I catch you. I delete ALL your entries. If you are not a follower, and have not completed the main entry, ALL of your entries will be deleted, regardless of the amount of extra credit that was done.

And because this question came up on facebook I want to address it here. When you enter using rafflecopter it assigns your entry a number. That remains your assigned entry number. When I delete disqualified entries, it doesn't change the assigned numbers. The BOB Stroller giveaway originally ended with just under 2,000 overall entries. After deleting bogus entries it went down to 1,471 entries. The winner is # 1533, that is because while entries above and below that number were removed, rafflecopter retains the original number assigned to an entrant at the time of their entry. So Kelley R. is very much a real person, and her entry # assigned to her by rafflecopter did not change just because other entries were deleted.

NBA Baller Beats - Preview Event Recap, Pictures, Video and Game Review!

Majesco Entertainment's NBA Baller Beats is now out and I finally get to share my recap from the preview event that was hosted by two-time NBA Champ Kenny Smith and WNBA All-Star Essence Carson!

NBA Baller Beats Video Game for the Xbox360 Kinect in Retail Packaging

About NBA Baller Beats:

The first ever full-body motion-based NBA video game that lets players use a real ball to gain real skills. Players of all skill levels – from rookie to pro – will dribble to the beat of popular and chart-topping music tracks, across various genres including hip-hop, rock, and old school favorites from artists like Kanye West, Common, Queen, Skrillex, Wiz Khalifa, Rise Against, Santigold, and many more. NBA Baller Beats will come packaged with an official Spalding® NBA game ball replica and will make its debut exclusively on Kinect™ for Xbox 360® on September 11, 2012.

NBA Baller Beats challenges players to time their dribble to the beat of each song and perform a variety of skill moves displayed on-screen to score points, earn achievements and unlock assets and additional gameplay. Players are challenged to perfect 20 different baller moves and increase their stamina in single player mode, break it down and practice different skills in Move School mode or show-off in multiplayer mode and go head-to-head against up to 8 players. To maximize their performance, gamers can visit the extensive in-game tutorial where two-time NBA champion and Emmy Award-winning TNT NBA analyst Kenny Smith dishes tips for success.

Check out Video from the Preview Event:

I also had the opportunity to do a one on one interview with Essence Carlson, but because we weren't miked up you can't hear the video so I'm not including it here. I will try to re-shoot with her as soon as her schedule permits.

Here are some cool pictures from the preview event:

My Take:

I love music and I love the challenge of trying to dribble in time to the beat which is not as easy as the pros shown in the demo make it look. The game is fun, fast-paced and helps you improve your skills, and hand-eye coordination. I would definitely recommend you add this game to your holiday shopping list, it's the perfect gift for that Basketball AND Music lover in your life!

A few tips: Look at the screen instead of the ball. Stay low and bend at the Knees as it will help improve your game and your score, it also helps you work up a sweat, this game is NOT as simple as it looks!

Have I got a 'shoportunity' for YOU

Did you know there were 3.8 million sports and recreation related concussions last year?

Are you an athlete? Do you know one? Love one? Are you raising a future or aspiring athlete? If so, there are ways you can help Dick’s Sporting Goods fund concussion testing!

Ways to help: From August 2 to September 12, Dick’s Sporting Goods will donate $1 every time you:

1) Share about the PACE campaign with your friends and Dick’s will donate a $1 to PACE - Like them on Facebook or tweet using  #DSGPACE (you should also be following them on Twitter too @DICKS)

2) Buy athletic shoes in store or online by September 12, and Dick's Sporting Goods will donate a $1 to PACE

3) Use Facebook Places or Foursquare to check in at Dick’s Sporting Goods stores

ABOUT PACE

PACE (Protecting Athletes through Concussion Education), is the nation’s largest baseline concussion screening initiative.

Ƹ̵̡Ӝ̵̨̄Ʒ - Give schools nationwide access to free educational materials about concussions

Ƹ̵̡Ӝ̵̨̄Ʒ  - Supply up to 3,335 schools with ImPACT Test Packages (each provides baseline tests for up to 300 athletes)

Ƹ̵̡Ӝ̵̨̄Ʒ - Aim to screen one million young athletes

Check out Jerome Bettis getting the word out on PACE:

Dick's Sporting Goods has teamed up with ImPACT (Immediate Post-Concussion Assessment and Cognitive Testing), the first, most-widely used and most scientifically validated computerized concussion evaluation system. Eligible schools that are new to the ImPACT program will receive its software free (a $500 value) to test young athletes for one year.

ImPACT is an invaluable tool for neuropsychologists, certified athletic trainers and other licensed healthcare professionals to assist them in determining an athlete’s ability to return to play after suffering a concussion.

I personally witnessed an athlete head injury during a game back in College, and I'm thinking how helpful this would have been then!

Many of us are already shopping for athletic shoes for Back to School, why not purchase them at Dicks Sporting Goods? This way by doing something you were going to do anyway, you can help schools get much needed equipment and support young athletes! Perhaps even your own childs school could benefit by doing something so simple, shopping with a conscious. Making an active decision to have your dollars count for something! By the way if you are ordering online Dick's Sporting Goods is offering Free Shipping in a Back to School promo that includes Footwear, Backpacks and Athletic Apparel! (You're Welcome!)

Remember to use your shopping dollars wisely, and shop corporations with a conscience!

FTC Disclosure: I was given a free product or sample because I'm a Klout influencer. I was under no obligation to receive the sample or talk about this company. I get no additional benefits for talking about the product or company. I am a member of @Klout Perks Program, while this is not a sponsored post, I have received an @Klout Perk in conjunction with this campaign. I am a blog with integrity blogger and this post poses no conflict of interest. I really do believe it's important to support corporations with a conscience!

Help America Scores and The Sak Brand Group Prevent Childhood Obesity!

For the 8th year in a row, The Sak Brand Group is working in partnership with America Scores, using the power of soccer and poetry to help urban youth learn valuable skills on and off the field. A cause that is an important one to Mark Talucci, co-founder, who at a very young age growing up overseas in places like Brazil, began his charitable work helping the underprivileged kids in his neighborhood.

In light of Michelle Obama’s “Let’s Move” initiative, childhood obesity has become a national priority. Jamie Oliver’s “Food Revolution” is also helping shine a spotlight on the epidemic. Scores coaches take it one step further teaching participants and their families about nutrition and healthy living while inspiring youth to lead healthy lifestyles, be engaged students, and to give back to their communities. Scores reaches over 6,000 children in underprivileged schools all over the country, including San Francisco, Boston, Atlanta, Dallas, Chicago and New York.

On July 11th, The Sak Brand Group and Bay Area Scores will team up to host The Bolinas World Cup Party at the Jefferson Airplane House in Bolinas, CA (outside of San Francisco). The Bay Area Scores organization has a goal of raising more than 100K for its programs nationwide from the event, live auction and online auction to add 200 kids to the program next year.

Here’s how you can help support upcoming America Scores programs:

The Bolinas World Cup Party kicks off with an online auction (LIVE NOW) allowing supporters nationwide to bid on featured items such as:

Ƹ̵̡Ӝ̵̨̄Ʒ - A week at the Desa Seni resort

Ƹ̵̡Ӝ̵̨̄Ʒ - A stylist session with Jess Neff of the NBC today show

Ƹ̵̡Ӝ̵̨̄Ʒ - The Sak and Elliott Lucca handbags

Ƹ̵̡Ӝ̵̨̄Ʒ - Jewelry

Ƹ̵̡Ӝ̵̨̄Ʒ -Original art work inspired by the poems of SCORES poet-athletes

Ƹ̵̡Ӝ̵̨̄Ʒ - Best Selling Products from Bliss Spa (Bliss San Francisco)

Ƹ̵̡Ӝ̵̨̄Ʒ - Private Tour of the California Academy of Science

Ƹ̵̡Ӝ̵̨̄Ʒ - Photographs from Thomson Reuters of World Cup soccer action

For more information on the event and to bid you can log on to www.bolinasworldcupparty.com/ and click on Auction.
