Sunday Moment of Gratitude - You no longer have to pardon our dust! Have you ever lived a month in a week?

This week, I am grateful for:

Ƹ̵̡Ӝ̵̨̄Ʒ - Finally giving the baby a 'real name'. Ascending Butterfly is now officially http://www.ascendingbutterfly.com - I'd like to personally thank everyone for their encouragement, advice, and giving me that extra 'push' I needed to finally get this done! I wouldn't call it 'easy' or 'painless', but I will definitely call it worth it in the end! There are still some more changes in store, but for now you will probably immediately notice that the captcha code requirement has been removed! This is one suggestion we received from many of you, and we are happy to have implemented it. We still moderate comments, so they still will not appear immediately, but you no longer have to type a captcha code to make a comment, and we hope this makes entering giveaways way easier!

Ƹ̵̡Ӝ̵̨̄Ʒ - This week has taught me so many amazing lessons in not under-estimating my abilities, not selling myself short and never losing sight of my dreams! And I'm truly thankful. This week has taught me the importance of affirming that I really do walk in Blessed Assurance.

New York Fashion Week American Launch of Emu Australia


Ƹ̵̡Ӝ̵̨̄Ʒ -  I attended an amazing Fashion Week event for the American Launch of Emu Australia, you can check out my recap with additional photos HERE! New York Fashion week is always so fast paced and hectic, that it was really wonderful to close out the week with a show containing fashion that most people actually wear!



WowWee Debut of Lite Sprites


Ƹ̵̡Ӝ̵̨̄Ʒ - I also attended some super fun events in conjunction with the Toy Fair, and I promise you'll see more detailed posts about these. I enjoyed seeing some new toys from PaperJamz at the Wowwee Event, and look forward to presenting the Lite Sprites and other great toys, including the new Justin Bieber Keyboard Guitar that was unveiled at the 2011 Toy Fair, that I got to see demos for! I actually really liked it the Bieber Guitar. Yes, I have officially scared myself! I had to snap this picture of the Lite Sprites because of course as you can see, there was a butterfly sighting!



Fisher Price Magical Fairy Wings Dora

Ƹ̵̡Ӝ̵̨̄Ʒ - In addition, I attended an event for Fisher Price where I had the chance to play with the toys in the 'Toy Lab' and rate the toys, hang out with my favorite NYC bloggie friends, and meet comedian Gilbert Gottfried in person! I have to say Fisher Price really went all out, and the staff at the venue which was the Loew's Hotel were amazing! (And the event manager in me will be keeping this space in mind for future events!) I couldn't resist taking a picture of Magical Fairy Wings Dora! I love all things with wings!

Ƹ̵̡Ӝ̵̨̄Ʒ - I also attended a super fun event in conjunction with Travel Zoo's Local Deals called the "I heart NYC Meetup," hosted by Travelzoo held at SD26 - Groupon is not the only game in town anymore for local deals! Healthy competition means even better deals for us, what's not to love? We were sent home with a local deal to try out, and as soon as I have a chance to try this deal out, I will be sure to share it with you!

EMU Australia American Debut at STYLE360’s Fall 2011 Fashion Show!

This social butterfly has been super busy lately and boy are my wings tired! I had the pleasure of attending the STYLE360’s EMU Australia Fall 2011 Fashion Show today and it was great way to close out Fashion Week. There is something about cozy sweaters that bring out the best in everyone, it was one of the most 'approachable' of the NY Fashion Week events that I attended. I even saw a model smiling!

EMU Australia's first ever runway show was held at the Metropolitan Pavilion on 18th Street on a surprisingly mild weather day, it was a comprehensive overview of their upcoming collection set to music with an exclusive mix by Josh Madden! You can download the 'Aussie Mix' by Josh Madden and feel like you were there by clicking HERE

Black Leather Vest, Definite Closet Staple!

Emu's collection of vests, hats, sweaters, coats, boots and more leaned toward lighter colors which was a very nice surprise! (Although thankfully as a true New Yorker I did spot a lovely black leather vest that caught my eye, paired with a striped sweater, light wash denim and black ankle boots! Pictured Above!) As you already know I'm a super huge fan of Sheepskin (and Leather), and having had the opportunity to both see and touch, I'm definitely digging Emu's comfy, cozy, soft vibe combined with an under-stated but no less 'casual-luxe' look!

My Take:

I can't think of a better combination than Naturalizer and Silver Linings! My new Array Boots are truly where fashion and function meet. They are super stylish AND super comfortable! I have wide calves and the rear elastic panel means they go up and stay up and do not choke my calves! I love the height, they are not too high, ensuring all day comfort, but do have enough of a heel to allow for both work and play!

Taking Stock

Whether married or single, I hope this is a day of taking stock of all the love in your life! Roses are beautiful, but this holiday is about Love. Candy is sweet, flowers are pretty and jewelry does dazzle, but Love is so many other things! It's the friend you can call at midnight because you need an ear, it's the husband that made breakfast, took out the garbage and got the kids to school so you could sleep in, it's the wife who greeted you with heart shaped pancakes, the baby that lights up when you walk in the room! It's your parents who love you unconditionally!

What started out one Valentine's Day as a night where the weather was bad and none of my single friends wanted to venture into the city, became a ritual that even our married friends want to join in on now. We get together and have home spa treatments like facial masks combined with Margaritas, coupled with girl talk, and tons of laughs!

Today, don't measure how much you are loved by the number of gifts you receive or admirers that you have, measure it in the daily ways that love manifests itself in your life!

Disney Pictures Presents Gnomeo and Juliet!

I had the pleasure of attending a NYC 3D screening of Gnomeo and Juliet and it was a welcome break between the madness of pre Fashion Week events and events surrounding the NYC Toy Fair!

Directed by Kelly Asbury (“Shrek 2”) and showcasing both classic and original songs by Elton John, the film features the voices of James McAvoy and Emily Blunt as Gnomeo and Juliet, who have as many obstacles to overcome as their quasi namesakes when they are caught up in a feud between neighbors. Two garden gnomes, Gnomeo (voice of James McAvoy) and Juliet (voice of Emily Blunt), try to avoid tragedy and find a happy ending to their star-crossed love affair when they are caught up in a feud between neighbors.

I had a fun time playing ‘who is that voice’ in my head, some were easier to recognize than others, like Patrick Stewart, Hulk Hogan, Ozzy Osbourne, Dolly Parton and Michael Caine!

And hopefully you like Elton John, because you will be hearing lots of Elton songs in this movie! There is a very energetic version of Crocodile Rock Performed by Nelly Furtado and Elton John. J

MY REVIEW:

While the movie is rated General Audiences, there are a few double entendres in there, and while they will course of make the adults laugh, you want to be aware they are there and decide based on your child’s maturity level, if you feel comfortable with that. I thought the 3D effects in Tangled was a bit more dynamic than in Gnomeo and Juliet, but all in all it is a fast paced, cheeky take on the Shakespeare Classic, With a Cameo by the man himself, well ….. at least his statue was there! J

I was excited to find some butterfly sightings! And when you visit the website gnomeoandjuliet.com you will find a blue butterfly there too! Ƹ̵̡Ӝ̵̨̄Ʒ

I have been enjoying playing spot the butterfly during Disney Animated Films and I’ve even got family and friends doing it now! J
