Last year I developed a love affair with Bella. No, not the Twilight Character. The Boot. Yes that's right, Bella is a boot. A purple, bold, fearless, warm, Boot. While I've never been a snarky blogger and have never used my blog as a forum to call anyone out who doesn't make me happy, I can share that brands I ask back again, are brands that really stand out. I really beat my BEARPAW Bella Boot up last winter, and they are still standing.

 My Take:

In my experience, BEARPAW Boots run true to size, I have not had to size up or down. The Taylor boot fits me true to my regular size. They are pull ons, but for me I had to undo the buckles to get into them, I also noticed that they are a snugger fit than the Bellas, but that's actually a good thing, as a result of the perfect fit I find that these are actually warmer. I've already worn these on a very cold rainy night, and I was wearing only a cardi over my sweater, and with these boots I was perfectly warm!

I love that these are way more stylish than my Bella's, with the buckle details on the side and the metal logo plate on the back, these are very 'me', and very 'NYC Girl', the black color, tough on the outside looks yet sweet and warm on the inside! It's as if the BEARPAW boot elves had me in mind when they crafted this pair because they couldn't be more perfect!

If you want warm and stylish, and you refuse to sacrifice form for function, than the Taylor's are definitely for you!

 My Take:

I've been using the SmartLight Lamp to do my reading so I can bring back the Ascending Butterfly Monthly Book Club and I can say that the lamp provides powerful illumination and does help with visual acuity.

I also find it's perfect for when I'm using my laptop in a dimly lit space, and for those of you in office spaces with poor lighting, if your office won't purchase one for you, you should definitely consider purchasing one of these for yourself. (Aim it at your poor cubicle plant when you go to lunch, if it had lips, it would thank you!)

I really like the Verilux Smart Light and only wish I'd 'discovered' it sooner, I would have loved this when I was still a student. I'm guilty of putting off the overhead light at night when I'm on my computer writing. I find I get my best writing done at night, but I was terribly straining my eyes doing so, and I have found way less eyestrain and eye fatique using my SmartLight! Who knew light could be so smart? Or make me more smart? This lamp will come in handy whether you are an avid reader, a crafter, a couponer, a quilter, and needless to say a student.

What is Sweetest Day?

Sweetest Day observance originated in Cleveland in 1922. It is observed on the 3rd Saturday in the month of October. Herbert Birch Kingston, philanthropist and candy company employee wanted to bring happiness into the lives of orphans, shut-ins and others who were forgotten. With the help of friends, he began to distribute candy and small gifts to the underprivileged.

The First Sweetest Day

On the first Sweetest Day, movie star Ann Pennington presented 2,200 Cleveland newspaper boys with boxes of candy to express gratitude for their service to the public. Theda Bara (Another popular movie star), distributed 10,000 boxes of candy to people in Cleveland hospitals and also gave candy to all who came to watch her film in a local theater.

While still a primarily regional observance celebrated in the Great Lakes region and the Northeast, Sweetest Day is gradually spreading to other areas of the country. People tend to take the Sweetest Day tradition with them when they move. Ohio is the top state for Sweetest Day sales, followed by Michigan and Illinois. Texas, California and Florida are among the top 10 states in sales. 

Over the years, Sweetest Day has evolved into a time to express romantic love and also to show appreciation to friends. (Feel Free to send me chocolate, or maybe cheesecake!)

I'd like something shorter, easier to style and manage and for the first time ever I'm thinking of trying out a permanent color change (Thankfully it's not out of necessity, no greys yet!). That's something I've never really done, I've used wash out temporary color before (the last time was for my College Graduation!) but I've never made a real color change commitment. My Take

All the products I tried helped me to achieve salon results at WAY more affordable prices! And the your style your studio website shows how to use each product to achieve desired results. I found that all products worked well with my hair length and texture (which is currently super long, fine, slightly wavy and frizz prone), and the most versatile of the products for me was the overworked hair putty, it's excellent for keeping your bangs in place, and if you have long hair, or don't want to blow out your bangs and just want to slick them back, it's great for keeping the front of your hair in place when pulling it back into a ponytail, it tames it, keeps it in place and gives you a super shiny ponytail!

I did want to share that the hairspray didn't make my hair super stiff either which I appreciated, I don't like when a hairspray gives you that stiff helmut head look!

The mousse gave great elasticity and hold without making hair stiff, it allowed me to re-work my style as needed from day into night.

I liked the gels, but I will admit I'm not a big gel user anymore, and with my hair currently so long, gel is less necessary for me, although perhaps when I cut it shorter, the gel will be more useful for me.
