OK True Blood, first my Tara, now this? I mean aren't there enough new 'peripheral characters' that could have gone first?

I am so glad that I never read the series, so this can keep throwing me for a loop. I guess once it's all said and done I'll have to read the books, but really HBO, Alcide, the best 'man meat' on the show, WHY?????
