{Review} @boommovie includes #Video Q&A with @hwinkler4real @kevinjames #HereComesTheBoom

Here Comes The Boom hits theaters on Friday, October 12th, and while it may sound odd that a movie review would be Today's Inspiration, read on!

Yesterday, I attended a private screening of the new Kevin James movie Here Comes the Boom, as part of a Mamarazzi event that included a Questions and Answers Session with Kevin James and Henry Winkler that was led by Denise Albert and Melissa Gerstein of @TheMoms.

About:

Movie Synopsis: In the comedy Here Comes the Boom, former college wrestler Scott Voss (Kevin James) is a 42-year-old biology teacher in a failing high school. When cutbacks threaten to cancel the music program and lay off its teacher (Henry Winkler), Scott begins to raise money by moonlighting as a mixed martial arts fighter. Everyone thinks Scott is crazy – most of all the school nurse, Bella (Salma Hayek).  But in his quest, as Scott becomes more and more committed to fighting for the students, he becomes a sensation that rallies the entire school.

Far Left: Charice who portrays the student 'Malia', Kevin James who portrays  'Scott Voss' a biology teacher,  Salma Hayek who portrays  'Bella Flores' School Nurse, and Henry Winkler who portrays 'MartyStreb', the school's Music Teacher who finds his job and entire music program in jeopardy

Top Left: Bas Rutten, world-renowned mixed martial artist, plays 'Niko', Henry Winkler as 'Marty Streb' and Mark DellaGrotte who plays himself, Far Right bottom is Kevin James as 'Scott Voss'.

 My Take:

I greatly enjoyed the movie! The movie truly surprised me in how inspirational and motivational it was. It shows the power of the human spirit and just how much you can really accomplish when you set your mind to it. There are so many relatable elements in the movie for me:

1) The Economy - If you haven't been affected by it, count yourself lucky and blessed, even the most industrious of savers out there have experienced wild fluctuations in their net worth thanks to our economy. When the protagonist finds out that his friend who is a great teacher, is on the verge of being laid off, it's both a wake up call for him and a call for immediate action.

2) The power of Friendship - Sometimes you get a raw deal in the family department, it happens. But it is said that friends can be defined as 'The Family you Make for yourself in this life'. In this day and age when everyone seems to be in it for themselves, it's refreshing to see a reminder that there are people out there who are loyal and willing go to bat for their friends!

3) Children - I don't know of any public school not facing cut-backs! It's time for everyone to take a stand!

4) Good Teachers - I had a favorite teacher in High School, he really cared, and while I couldn't picture him taking on Mixed Martial Arts, I do know he really cared about all of us and went to bat for us! I taught Special Ed students myself, and it's great how the movie recognizes the importance of teachers in the lives of their students.

5) Re-invention - While forced into the decision to use a talent he hadn't used since High School, 42 year old biology teacher Scott Voss was at a cross roads in life and needed to re-invent himself, that's how I feel, I want to re-invent myself both personally and professionally in this coming year! (Who can't relate to that?)

6) Mixed Martial Arts - I studied Martial Arts first when I was younger and then through College and the movie got me inspired to want to pick it up again once I'm back to 100%!

Here is a group shot of Kevin James and Henry Winkler along with all the bloggers in attendance for the screening and QandA, Can you spot the Butterfly?

Here are some still shots I took:

Kevin James co-wrote and co-produced the action comedy!

Henry Winkler shares a behind the scenes story about how the word 'hate' was removed from a pivotal scene because Kevin James didn't want the word put in the movie or associated with the characters!

I'd like to reinvent my myself by letting go of old ideas that hold me back and stop me from attempting new things!!
