Just thought I'd add some more info to yesterday's post! I visited the Best Buy at 1880 Broadway for a Magnolia at Best Buy Home Theater Demo, at the end of the Demo I was given Ledisi's newest release The Truth, and a wristband that will grant me access to her autograph signing this Friday at the same store!

I am digging both my new CD and those sweet MartinLogan Theos Speakers! My home theater is due for an upgrade and getting the chance to demo the sound on these speakers in an environment that truly mirrors a home system setup and have experts answer all my questions was super helpful!

Guess who pimped my Music?

My friends at Best Buy sent me the JBL Flip Stereo Speaker and I'm totally digging on this Bluetooth wireless system for smartphones and tablets. It has two 1-5/8 inch (40-millimeter) drivers and a built-in bass port that delivers the exceptional bass sound that JBL is known for in a totally portable package! With this little wonder I can get up to 5 hours of playback time with it's built in Li-ion rechargeable battery which connects wirelessly to any Bluetooth-equipped device. It's a big sound, with great portability at a fantastic price! Right now it's $89.95 at Best Buy which is $30 lower than a leading competitor has it, just saying! Trust when I tell you I am NOT making a political statement of any kind here, but I have never shopped 'Black Friday'. I hate crowds. I refuse to get trampled for a discount, no matter how great it may be. And I'm not going out shopping on Thanksgiving Day. That day is about being Thankful for my blessings and enjoying them with those I love. My Take:

Butterflies you all know that I went into headphones kicking and screaming because I have always preferred earbuds. I am an eyeglass wearer and I also wear pierced earrings which makes headphones a pain for me, I can tell you after extended hours of use with these they do NOT hurt my ears or push my eyeglasses or sunglasses or earrings into the side of my head. No Marks, means happy butterfly! I am very happy with the sound as a speaker and as headphones as well. I do have a 'good ear' when it comes to audio so it was hard at first getting used the higher treble capture with these, but I've adjusted my settings and once I did that I found that these really do deliver a quality audio experience across various Musical Genres. I have a very eclectic collection of music (but then again what 'DJ' doesn't?), and despite their bigger profile in my handbag, I have found myself reaching for them all the time (BTW, I love the protective case that comes with these!). They are delivering big price sound that allows you to easily share the beat at a price that won't break the bank. One of the highest ratings I can give with me having a background in music and studios and being a blogger is this 'Would you re-buy them if something went wrong?' and the answer is definitely a re-sounding yes! I of course hope they last a long time (and a long time for me is relative and is WAY different than the average mainstream user) but if I lost them I would re-buy them!

The Official #TwitterPartyDJ Reviews the Voxx International 808 Studio Quality Headphones!

I grew up around DJ's both family and friends, not just weekend enthusiasts, but pros that started off in clubs and many now own their own Audio Production Companies, for my family Music wasn't just entertainment it was always very much business. So when it comes to Audio Products and Accessories I'm pretty picky and I learned early on that labels, names, flash and floss didn't always mean great sound.

I love Music and feel blessed to have grown up in a family that takes it so seriously and also exposed me to such a wide variety of artists and musical genres. Their love of music and sound and what goes behind creating memorable musical moments definitely rubbed off on me, but there is always one place where I differed from the Pro's in my family. I prefer earbuds. That's definitely not a secret to long time readers, but it's still where me and my family members in the industry differ. And they spent years trying to convert me to headphones but they were never successful. I always hated how they 'crushed' my hair (remember how high 80's hair used to be right?), I have always worn eyeglasses and the headphones would press my glasses into my temples which after awhile would hurt and as I live in the Public Transportation Capital of the Planet, New York City, I always hated how headphones drew too  much attention to you. To my fellow individualists, trust me when I tell you that the one place you don't want to draw too much attention to yourself is on a New York City Subway Train.

So when a pair of 808 headphones arrived for editorial consideration to say I was a bit skeptical would probably be an understatement. I recently reviewed my new HP Envy Desktop computer which I absolutely love (which is awesome because I had purchased a few lemons over the last few years and was slowly losing faith in them), one of the things that stand out about my new desktop is the amazing Audio. As a long time HP owner (both at work and at home both desktop and laptop), I was never all that impressed with their Audio, until my new Envy, the Beats Audio on my new system is fantastic. My Take:

With a street smart style, cutting-edge audio technology, and an affordable price tag, these headphones prove that style, substance and smarts can be achieved at a price point that is reachable for everyone. It brings out nuances in some songs that I don't hear when wearing other headphones/earbuds, there were songs from U2 and Sheryl Crow that I've heard over and over that sounded so much different to me with these. They blocked outside noise (like when I'm in the bus with them on, I don't hear ambulance sirens blaring in my ears and interrupting my tunes) and in the trains I can  use these to block out the Garbled MTA messages (Perhaps the MTA should retain Voxx International to re-do the audio in the subway system, maybe then you'd actually be able hear to the announcements!), they also smartly help me tune out wailing infants, obnoxiously loud cell phone conversations and just immerse myself in the escape that my music collection provides me during a hectic rush hour traffic commute into the city.

Warning to the wise, turn DOWN your current audio level setting on your device before you plug these in, you won't need to have the volume anywhere as close to the setting you are using now. These deliver a rich, even consistent sound, rich bass, and definitely have style for days. I love my 808 headphones, and am excited about their upcoming On-Ear (the Drift) and In-Ear Earbuds that are set to release in 2013 in the months ahead!

Last year I had the chance to review a pair of earphones that were the closest to 'accessory nirvana' as I even imagined possible, I reviewed the Monster® Butterfly™ by Vivienne Tam with ControlTalk™ High Performance In-Ear Headphones and while I loved them, they died on me in one ear during a very long commute. Not Cool. I will tell you that Monster did make it right and replace them, but I was a bit surprised to have those die before their 1 year anniversary of commuting with me during my daily commute. I've had some cheapos last me way longer.

Because of my status as 'The Official #TwitterPartyDJ' I get a wide variety of pitches, directly from musicians (alas I wish I had the influence with the studios to help them more), labels, or music accessories. I'm often a bit leery when it comes to music accessories reviews, I am very picky/selective, I have a great ear, and I will be honest when it comes to my assessments, not all tech or tech gear are alike.

I'm also not ashamed to say the fashionista in me still wants a little form with all that function, but when it comes to music, at the end of the day, sound is and always will be King. Most of my DJ pals will only work with Over-the-Ear Headphones, and while I get that, my strong preference is in-ear earphones. No matter how well padded, I have yet to meet the headphone that doesn't press down on my ears and make them red. With earphones I'm able to adjust the size better and wear them longer.

I've been enjoying happy listening with a new pair of earphones that literally feel like it's a concert in my ear, and I mean that in a GOOD way. A very good way!

My Take:

When they say 'Noise Immersion' they really mean it! When I evaluate new earphones I take time to listen to music across as many genres/styles of music as possible, from Classical, to Jazz, to Rap, to Metal, Latin Music and more, and these literally bring out the sound in ways other earphones hadn't for me. I will warn you to put DOWN the volume on your device before putting these in your ears. And for me that is one of the perks to quality earphones, I can listen to my music on much lower settings, meaning I don't have to charge my portable devices as often when using these! I love the packaging, super sleek and sexy, and when you open it not only are the additional size tips for the earphones included on top, there are also extras right below them inside a carrying pouch you can use to store them while on the go. All packaged with a Certificate of Authenticity. And with their genuine SWAROVSKI Elements, they put the fashion and form into what is already an amazingly functional pair of earphones with amazing sound! They are hands down a perfect holiday gift for any audiophile/music lover in your life. Although I am sure you are going to be pretty hard pressed when it comes time to wrap them because you are NOT going to want to give these away! I will tell you they have a super light weight feel to them, but don't let the good looks fool you, there is serious sound under that 'pretty face'.
