{#MotivationMonday} Leave a Prayer/Good Vibe - Get a Prayer/Good Vibe

Have you ever noticed how easy it is for you to 'kick it into gear' when you are helping someone else? Some deem this a 'helpers high' - where you feel better when you are doing something good for someone else.

Many people feel their prayers work the same way. They feel when they are praying for someone else that their prayers seem 'more powerful' - but not so much when they pray for themselves.

I can't say this is or isn't true - but I can say as a Life Coach the weight you put on that perception can certainly sway your outcomes.

In my humble opinion I think that when we pray or send good vibes to/for other people, we tend to be incredibly precise, it's a focused prayer, when we pray for ourselves, we often feel the need to 'explain ourselves' to explain why we are praying for a specific outcome and tend to include what we have tried to do on our own but felt we failed on, we throw in too many 'additionals/variables' - they say the Universe is very specific, and so our prayers and affirmations should be specific AND very concise.

I agree.

While I love hosting a Weekly Moment of Gratitude on Ascending Butterfly (and I still recommend keeping a daily gratitude journal where you end each day and list three simple things you are grateful for - these are my favorite journals to re-read), I thought I would mix things up a bit and offer a leave a prayer/good vibe request and take a prayer/good vibe request. I have seen these on the interwebs in various places and I have been amazed at how it's brought disparate communities together on a global scale.

Please note this is NOT a 'lets get into a religious debate' post/thread.  You can participate in this even if you are an atheist, hence the reason I used the term 'prayer OR good vibe'. It doesn't matter what religion you are (or aren't), I believe our words have tremendous power, let's use them to HELP one another.

Can you imagine what a better place our world COULD be if we took a moment to pray for a stranger instead of bullying, teasing or watching a fight video on YouTube?

Do you think you need prayer? Ask yourself these questions:

Ƹ̵̡Ӝ̵̨̄Ʒ - Is there a roadblock you are experiencing?

Ƹ̵̡Ӝ̵̨̄Ʒ - Do you feel like you are at a crossroads in some aspect of your life?

Crossroads are a great indicator that you are in fact ready for change. Let's surrender it all to prayer/good vibes.

This week I Leave a Prayer and Good Vibes for:

The Family and Friends of Dr. Wayne Dyer who passed away on August 31st. Our world lost a tremendous spirit, so I take a moment to pray for his passing and for the next phase of his journey. I think the best way we as a society can honor his life is by becoming 'change agents' and being that change that we wish to see in this world.

And I seek a Prayer:

Recently I experienced  the shocking and very eye-opening experience of having been followed into my apartment complex. My both hands were full (heavy bags of groceries in one hand a large pizza box in the other) and I live in a walk up with no elevator so I had to think quickly. I short stopped suddenly and stared the person right in the eye, he was confused by my decisiveness I'm sure and then turned and changed his mind, but obviously did NOT have good intentions. I want to move out (I have actually been toying with re-location and changing cities for awhile now) but financially that is not in the cards at this very moment, so I seek prayer for a financial breakthrough - an area I am sure many of you can relate to.

To make it easier, pray for the poster above you (If the thread gets big enough it may hard for you to pray for everyone, but you can at least tackle the request immediately above you), if you want to let them know you did, by all means do so, if you just want to pray for a few and keep that to yourself, that's OK too.

Feel free to leave your prayer, know that I will be praying for and sending good vibes to EVERYONE who posts here. (Your responses will let me know if this should replace the weekly moment of gratitude!)

What Prayer/Good Vibes are YOU Leaving? May your Motivation Monday and Labor Day be filled with good company and great memories.

  1. Prayer is so powerful and yes, it always seems to work when you are praying for other persons. I am sorry to hear about what happened to you and I am glad that you had the presence of mind to react that way. At least you scared him off. I am sending good vibes your way.

    1. @Esme - I have been studying Martial Arts since I was young and have taken several 'street fighting self defense' type courses as well, I knew I was prepared to handle myself (I dealt with an attack on my College Campus when I was younger, left my attacker hospitalized!) but it's disconcerting to have it happen to you where you LIVE, you expect to be in danger in any public place, but the hallway of your very own building, it is the place you feel safest because you are a hop, skip and a jump from your home. Your home being your sanctuary. It left me more sad that what I could already see about this neighborhood turning was now a reality in my face after living here for so long. Thanks for the good vibes, much appreciated!

  2. Prayer can be a VERY powerful thing. I had an almost similar story to yours, but I was followed in to the woods. I started krav maga the following week and now I am almost a black belt, so if it ever happens again I am prepared.

    1. @Masshole Mommy - Into the woods? How horrifying! I'm glad it prompted you to start studying Krav Maga, I have studied various forms since my school days including Tae Kwon Do, and many 'street fighting' defense classes as well. I was once attacked on my College Campus, which resulted in my attacker being rushed to the hospital. It is great to be prepared. But ultimately, my prayer is that neither of ever have to use it! Stay safe my friend!

  3. Prayers is such a powerful tool and weapon for and towards our good and against attacks against us. I agree that we at times pray so freely and open for others yet when it is time to pray on our own behalf we tend to self-judge and try to edit our prayers. God understands our hearts so why not simply say and express what we truly feel, desire and need. Great Post! I agree in prayer with you for a financial breakthrough and I am so grateful that your situation with the person ended without incident.

    1. @MrsTee very well said, God indeed does understand our prayers and we need to come to him as boldly for OURSELVES as we readily do for others and understand that he won't confused our bold prayers for arrogance. Thank you for your prayers they are very much appreciated. Even as a Life Coach I sometimes need to hear words of encouragement to keep myself on track as well! :)

    1. @debdenny - Having spent some time in the hospital, it was moments when my family, friends and fellow prayer warriors visited me or called me from far to pray over me with blessings of healing that I felt the most peace. I am glad the situation didn't get worse either, but my eyes are definitely more open now as I come and go!

  7. I'm all for praying for each other! I'd love to pray for you, Tracey, right now.

Creator God, I ask you to bless Tracey, and I thank you for her quick thinking in such a scary situation. I pray that you would continue to help her be aware of anything or anyone threatening that is going on around her. I ask that you would enable her to find a safer place to live, if that's Your will, and the resources to move. In the meantime I ask for Your continued protection over her, in Jesus' name, Amen.

Thank you for the opportunity to pray for you and for your situation :-)

  8. I live in a region of the country that is very high on the power of prayer. I do believe in praying when someone is sick. I can't really say that it helps or doesn't help, but I am a firm believer in doing what I can to help others, and if prayer is what they want, then prayer is what they will get.

  9. Prayer, good vibes, positive thinking. It's all really important. I'm the last one to say that any of them are more important than they other, but I think they all do the same thing - keep us focused on the positive.

  11. I think that we should pray not only when we need things but also to give thanks to what we have. I agree with you that the power of prayer is huge, and that even people that are not religious can pray. A prayer can be meditating and searching for spiritual advice. Good vibes to you...

  12. I know lots of people who believe in prayer, and all that stuff but it just isn't for me. This was a lovely read though, and I think it was very motivational. - Jeanine

  14. I definitely agree with you! If every human being would pray for someone everyday, the world might be a better place for everyone to live in.

  15. Love it when you pray for others it's such a good feeling. I think that we all need to give more in this world. I learned that especially after watching the movie war room.

  18. Prayers do a lot of wonders and it was only last five years when I discovered its true power. My mom recently just learned how to say her prayers and we practice every night. Believing in the word of the lord can bring good results.

  19. Totally agree with this! I know remembering to pray more often is a struggle for me, it’s easy to remember when I need something though! I think the hardest part is knowing how to understand an answer to your prayer. What a scary experience for you!

  20. Praying helps with things that we can't do on our own. I struggle with chronic pain and if it wasn't for my faith I dunno where I would be. Not saying that in a negative way, just chronic pain is tough in many aspects including mental health. I know Jesus suffered on the cross and Job suffered so much too. Sometimes I do feel angry and ask God why I'm ill.

  21. Prayer is so powerful. I believe in Jesus and miracle. "Therefore I tell you, whatever you ask for in prayer, believe that you have received it, and it will be yours". Amen

  22. I strongly believe in the power of prayer! It has helped me get through numerous situations, good and bad.

  23. I feel so ashamed that I have not been regularly praying. There are so many things I want to talk to God about, but I can't seem to find the time. My hubby always said, "Pray and you'll find time to do the other things." There are three things I need prayers for - for my husband's health, my mom's wellbeing, and my daughter's safe delivery of her first born in December.

  24. I think prayer and faith give everyone hope. Anyone can pray, whether they are religious or not. Hope is always a good thing to have.

  30. I think this is a wonderful idea. I do believe in the power of prayer and in good thoughts. And it's always powerful to put others before yourself. I try to remind myself to do that here too, regardless of the situation I might or might not be in myself. I'm glad your situation turned out good!!! Hurrah for the happy ending. I hope you get the money to move quickly!
