If you are based in New York City or New Jersey (or just find yourself in one of those cities for business or pleasure), pick up your phone (IOS or Android) and download this super user friendly and FREE app right NOW! The 40Find App is on my phone and it has made finding deals wherever I find myself much easier. (40 Find = Find 40 percent off, get it?)

I know with Cinco de Mayo there is always a little 'happy hour' fun to be had and if you want to find out where the best deals are, this App is all you'll need!

I get contacted by App Makers all the time. I don't immediately write them back, in some cases I try out the app without ever telling them so, if I love it, then I will want to share all about it! (based on how few Apps I have actually covered since 2009 you can tell I don't just rave about an App if I don't really like it!)

Any app that helps me find Sushi at a great discount is all aces in my book! I'm a bit of a Sushi Fanatic, but super picky about where I'll eat it, when the app showed me deals at places that I actually already frequent I knew it was a keeper. I'm also a rawbar girl and there are enough Oyster deals on this app to keep me busy for a very long time!

Get Social:

Try out this app, once you do you are going to want to connect with them and tell them just how much you are loving these amazing deals!

Ƹ̵̡Ӝ̵̨̄Ʒ - Visit 40Find on Facebook

Ƹ̵̡Ӝ̵̨̄Ʒ - Keep up with their Tweets via Twitter too, @40Find is the main twitter handle for the app, then you can add your city to connect with them too to share your local deal. For example, fellow New Yorkers yours would be @40FindNYC (by the way, the same holds true with the hashtags when you tweet out a picture of the great deal you just scored, use #40Find or #40Find and then your city, so for NYC it would be #40FindNYC)

MY Take:

I keep my phone incredibly app 'lite', every app on my phone is an app I am actually using and find useful. Every few months I look at my Apps again and if I am not really using one I will delete it. This App is one of my 'keeper apps', and as a foodie and Lifestyle blogger based in New York City, there is a tremendous amount of options at my disposal, but as a Fab Frugalista who tries hard to stick to her budget (I have big goals and future plans, I need to stick to my budget!), this app is going to make going to my favorite places that much sweeter with the discount, but also when I am in another city - like New Jersey where I like to visit as I love Atlantic City, or San Francisco (where I dream of re-locating someday!) this App will help me find the best deals in other cities too. I have to admit the App is also making me want to try out a few spots that are new to me in my own city. SCORE!

What kind of deal would you most use the 40Find App to nab? Would it be food, cocktails or Happy Hour? (and if it's all of the above we can definitely hang out together when you find yourself in New York City! LOL) Butterflies please try out the 40Find App and then come back and tell us what you think!

A quick way to make a difference for multi-cultural children with #Autism

The one thing many people are very surprised to find out about me is that I was a Special Education Teacher. I taught a class with students that had a very wide variety of Special Needs. Childhood Education issues and the needs of Special Ed students is something I still keep track on the pulse of despite the fact that I no longer teach.

It was an amazing learning experience for me. I learned to sign because I had students that were deaf, I taught a class that was multi-cultural and my lesson plans were conducted in both English as well as Spanish. I could reach most of my students, but sadly not all. I had one Autistic student. A student who was a challenge to reach. And the fact the student's parents both told me their child really loved my class, made me want to try harder to reach him.

I didn't have the tech resources available to me then as I do now.

I recently participated in a contest, a very important one, AT&T put out a call for entries for an 'Autism Speaks App Idea Contest' and on a whim I entered. Well I forgot all about that whim until I got an email telling me my entry made the final round, and is up for voting. It brought tears to my eyes, while I was happy I am in the running for winning, I thought about that one student I could never fully reach.

The winning App will be featured at an upcoming AT&T Hackathon, the voting ends SOON on February 17th, so if you could take one second to vote for my App idea I would greatly appreciate it. Resources to reach Autistic children are crucial, and there isn't a ton out there for bi-lingual children either, this App would be a great resource and a great learning tool for children with Autism, their families and their teachers!

VOTING INSTRUCTIONS:

1) Press here, you will go to another window
2) You will land on the Autism Speaks Facebook Page, like them if you are not doing so already
3) Press blue tab that reads 'view entries'
4) copy and paste this into search box: Bi-lingual Autism Feelings App then when the entry loads on the page
5) on the right press the blue button that reads VOTE!

THANK YOU!, THANK YOU!, THANK YOU!

Cube Dog App Review

When I was younger I received a birthday party gift that left me less than enthused, a pet rock! About the only thing that caught my attention about that gift was that it oddly resembled a used bar of Irish Spring Soap. You know when the shape of the soap changes from the way it came in the box, that's how the rock looked. That interesting bit about it lasted for like a minute, and it then became a paperweight and topic of conversation that generally leads others to open up about the less than stellar gifts they have received throughout the years. (And this being near Father's Day, most guys I know said they'd prefer a Pet Rock to a Tie, so that's saying something!)

Unfortunately those were what I refer to as 'P.I.' days, it's an acronym much like BC, except it means 'Pre-iPod' Days! :)

I've probably owned almost every generation and type of iPod out there, the shuffle, the classic, the touch, I LOVE my iPods. (My single complaint about my iPod Touch is that it rarely plays nice where there is free wifi). I have TONS of apps, but what speaks volumes about an App in my collection, is which ones make the cut when I sync. Let's face it, there is only a certain amount of space. And that space is divided among music, pictures, videos, contacts and even movies. So I'm very selective about which Apps I sync.

I've come across one that I wish I would have had back then, I certainly would have loved it way more than the pet rock!

What is Cube Dog and What Makes it Cool Anyway?

Think all the fun of a real dog without the fur (that makes allergic people sneeze), the poop (which you can get fined for if you don't clean it up), the walks where your beloved fur baby drags you around at 100 MPH when he spots a squirrel in the park, the hassles of paper training, or the incessant barking that annoys your neighbors.

And if all that hasn't sold you yet, think of the cool mom, dad, aunt, uncle brownie points you'll score during those long summer road trips with the little ones who have probably grown tired of the same DVD you have in the car, and if you don't have an entertainment system in the car, then you really need Cube Dog!

Features Include:

Ƹ̵̡Ӝ̵̨̄Ʒ - The ability to create your own unique cube dog by selecting various parts and colors
Ƹ̵̡Ӝ̵̨̄ƷFull 3D graphics with ability to rotate and zoom
Ƹ̵̡Ӝ̵̨̄Ʒ - High-quality 3D animations
Ƹ̵̡Ӝ̵̨̄Ʒ - Compatible with the iPhone and iPod touch 4 with camera

--- PLEASE READ! ---
Cube Dog's 3D environment isn't supported on the 1st and 2nd gen iPhone/iPod touch (or 8gig 3rd gen touch). It WILL CRASH on those devices. They are working on expanding compatability soon!

--- What's New in Version 1.0.1---
Try giving your Cube Dog a name! You can also share photos of your pet via email.

I played with this app last weekend on a bus trip and it made the time fly by (except when my Niece and Nephew kept trying to nab it!)

Thank you to Cube Dog for sponsoring this review. For more information about Cube Dog please visit the Facebook page or download it on iTunes.

--- Note: Contest Alert! ---
They have a fun contest coming up from June 13-17th on their Facebook page so be sure to enter!
