Our weather here has been nuts, it started getting rainy and cooler, and then got hot again. This past weekend was very much 'Indian Summer' here, but having lived in NYC all my life I know just how quickly the weather changes. I am not willing to compromise on style just because the weather turns. And I also need boots that are 'commuter city friendly'. There's a lot of walking that happens in this city (and trains which means lots of stairs too).

I'm a boot lover, I love boots as much as I love handbags and I definitely found this years 'favorite pair'. Not too short, not thigh highs, but just like in the Goldilocks and The Three Bears tale, these boots are 'just right'. The weather hadn't even turned when the boots arrived, but I was like a kid at Christmas who wants to play with their new toy all day long! I have worn them almost constantly since I received them and I love them! I haven't found any outfit they don't match with, and most importantly I don't have to sacrifice form for function, they are equal parts comfortable and pretty! And for those girls who are 'wide' or 'athletic' calves, you'll be happy to know these fit  me well and I'm wide calf myself.

My Take:

In the picture above I am wearing my Prance boots to the DVD release party for Bridemaids! It was a rainy and cool evening, and these were just perfect. I was on my feet quite a bit and when I got home my feet were not even tired!

These are available in Black and a brown color called 'Almond' and I can tell you I am going back for them in Brown, I love them that much!

And if you are thinking 'Deja Shoe', you would be right, I've worked with Earth Footwear before, here are my reviews for the Talera shoes (perfect heels for work or play with comfort footbed) and the Veria shoes (these are so perfect for an evening out, and that red is totally a head turner, I LOVE these shoes and always get compliments when I wear them). I've got to admit that my Prance boots are edging older pairs out, I find myself reaching for these first. With Earth Shoes I have to half size up from normal shoe size, it somehow works out better for me regardless of whether or not it's a heel or a flat. (Remember, that may or may not apply to you, but I always like to share my full experience with a product).

EMU Australia American Debut at STYLE360’s Fall 2011 Fashion Show!

This social butterfly has been super busy lately and boy are my wings tired! I had the pleasure of attending the STYLE360’s EMU Australia Fall 2011 Fashion Show today and it was great way to close out Fashion Week. There is something about cozy sweaters that bring out the best in everyone, it was one of the most 'approachable' of the NY Fashion Week events that I attended. I even saw a model smiling!

EMU Australia's first ever runway show was held at the Metropolitan Pavilion on 18th Street on a surprisingly mild weather day, it was a comprehensive overview of their upcoming collection set to music with an exclusive mix by Josh Madden! You can download the 'Aussie Mix' by Josh Madden and feel like you were there by clicking HERE

Black Leather Vest, Definite Closet Staple!

Emu's collection of vests, hats, sweaters, coats, boots and more leaned toward lighter colors which was a very nice surprise! (Although thankfully as a true New Yorker I did spot a lovely black leather vest that caught my eye, paired with a striped sweater, light wash denim and black ankle boots! Pictured Above!) As you already know I'm a super huge fan of Sheepskin (and Leather), and having had the opportunity to both see and touch, I'm definitely digging Emu's comfy, cozy, soft vibe combined with an under-stated but no less 'casual-luxe' look!

My Take:

I can't think of a better combination than Naturalizer and Silver Linings! My new Array Boots are truly where fashion and function meet. They are super stylish AND super comfortable! I have wide calves and the rear elastic panel means they go up and stay up and do not choke my calves! I love the height, they are not too high, ensuring all day comfort, but do have enough of a heel to allow for both work and play!

Today's Words of Inspiration + Winner's Announcements + NY Wine Fest Recap!

Let the Good Life Inspire You

This past weekend I had the pleasure of attending The New York City Wine Festival, and I had a fantastic time! I'm no expert, and I let the reps know I was fully in their hands and to make recos on what I should try and in what order. They were super happy to explain the notes and describe the flavors. I also had the chance to meet great people between appetizers and tasting, and it concluded with an amazing concert.

I can't wait for the next one. I started off so nervous not fully knowing what to expect or how a total newb would even be received, and I learned right away I had nothing to fear, and there were other wine novices who seemed visibly relieved when I asked for recos because some were too afraid to admit they didn't know very much about wine either.

I was totally in the moment and greatly enjoyed the great wine, food, music and company! I hope the Ascending Butterfly readers who won our giveaway for a pair of tickets will also write in and let us know how they enjoyed the event.

It's amazing when you stop and think that grapes can become something so luxurious. A wine at it's core is nothing without the grapes. And the event left me thinking about how the ordinary in life can easily become extraordinary via time and transformation.

And isn't that much like us? We undergo changes and transformations daily, some seem so negligible when we are in the midst of them, but then we realize later on just how profound they really were! Today I want you to be inspired by your changes and transformations, celebrate both the ordinary and extraordinary in your life, and don't be afraid to ask for recommendations, you may just discover a new favorite!

I have to admit I'm a bit late to this particular trend, when this 'comfy' boot craze began for some reason I didn't jump on the bandwagon. I never even tried a pair on! SAY WHAT???? I know RIGHT!?! I don't know why, I just never got around to trying them on.

This winter Mother Nature has hit 'The Big Apple' with a vengeance. Apparently she's really mad at New York. Today the weather was an awful, miserable, icy, slippery MESS! I can't even sugar coat this one, it's UGLY out!

The one thing that is certain about this City is that it never stops! We didn't get the nickname, 'The City That Never Sleeps' for nothing. Nothing closed, and the commute did not shut down. I thought for a minute about whipping out a sled and putting an ad in the paper for a Husky Dog....But I digress....

Thankfully I didn't end up needing that sled or those Husky Dogs! And thats all thanks to Bearpaw! They sent me their Bella Boot about two weeks ago, and honestly I haven't taken them off since I received them. I now get that whole wearing them all day even as slippers thing! They are absolutely out the box comfy. They are that kind of comfortable that usually a shoe feels like right before you need to replace them. That perfectly broken in perfection! As you all know I don't have the easiest feet to shop for, high instep, lack of an arch for me the whole advice about shopping late afternoon  for shoes is a must. And while I didn't have to brave the stores to shop for these, I can tell you honestly, that I would have gladly, they are literally that comfy! And now I want one in every color!

My Take

Pros:

Ƹ̵̡Ӝ̵̨̄Ʒ - Comfort! These boots are super comfortable, they stand up to the cold and wind, and keep you warm, without being heavy. You can walk comfortable and not feel like you are walking in molasses or tar. They are so comfortable you just want to move, move, move!

Ƹ̵̡Ӝ̵̨̄Ʒ - The Color! I love the eggplant color! But then again, I'm definitely a purple lover, so Bella in Eggplant just 'fits'

Ƹ̵̡Ӝ̵̨̄Ʒ - Warm! These are everything you want in a boot, toasty, but not so over heated hot that as soon as you get indoors again you want to take them off. I've experienced boots where when I get into the bus or train I'd get so hot with them on I just wanted them off, but would have to wait until I got to the office. These are perfect. I honestly regret not getting into this trend sooner, but I can tell you I am now totally spoiled!

Cons

Ƹ̵̡Ӝ̵̨̄Ʒ - There is only one major con  I now want one in EVERY color, and I do mean every color!

So usually I like to set trends and not follow them, but in this case I happily make an exception! Despite Mother's Nature's Best, I braved the storm, and had a great hair day too, more on that to come!
