{#Motivation Monday} Michael Bublé #ToBeLoved" {#Music #Review}

Motivation Monday Music Review:

Michael Bublé To Be Loved Music Album CD Track Listing

DisclosureI participated in this campaign for One2One Network. I received a free copy of the album to facilitate my review. By posting, I am eligible for additional incentives. All opinions stated are my own.

With one of my online personas being "The Official #TwitterPartyDJ" I'm sure the reigning assumption is that I listen to Pop/Dance Music all day long, the truth is while I did grow up around DJ's and the music scene and I do have a great ear for transitions and mixing, the nickname came up more for my hosting and co-hosting Twitter Parties then it did for my listening preferences. Over time when the nickname stuck, I started getting Audio Gear to review and I get more emails from labels and artists asking me to 'play' their song on twitter than I can even count. (If only I had one dollar for every request I receive from artists....I wouldn't have to play the Powerball anymore that's for sure!)

Don't get me wrong, I'm not complaining, Music and Travel are my primary passions (and pastimes) and I'm always more than happy to share my favorites every chance I get! I have a pretty eclectic music and book library. My collections are vast and varied, and there is pretty much something to suit almost any taste, preference or mood.

Music sets a tone, it gives a party life, makes long commutes appear to fly by, and can alter one's mood in an instant.

I live in the City and my apartment complex is filled with hugely inconsiderate neighbors who play loud music with such frequency it almost made me start to hate the one thing I really love. But I wouldn't be an Ascending Butterfly if I let anything or anyone get me down!

For me the end of a super long day means seeking peace and stillness, and there is nothing better than a long hot bath, a glass of wine and soothing music, to drown out the annoying neighbors! I put on my headphones, lay back on the bath pillow and just let my mind wander. My bath-time playlist is a mix of jazz favorites, crooners and balladeers!

Michael Buble To Be Loved Music Album CD Track Listing
"Do not think I take my success these last ten years for granted. I was anything but an overnight sensation, which inspires me to deliver big time for my fans—maybe even make some new ones this time out." says Bublé.

One of the artists that come up in my 'Tub-Time Playlist' is Michael Bublé, his last two albums topped the charts for over a month, and it would be no surprise if he did it again with his newest release To Be Loved. This is his eighth studio album!

There are fourteen songs on the new album, ten are covers, most of those are Frank Sinatra covers.  Michael has always been compared to Sinatra since the very beginning, so it's only fitting that this album is practically a Sinatra Tribute.

Michael Buble
"I labored over every song, every note and every arrangement because I can’t resist trying to make each record better than my last one." says Bublé.

To Be Loved Track Listing:

1. “You Make Me Feel So Young”
2. “It’s a Beautiful Day”

I have a feeling you have probably heard about it by now or have even seen it by now, but just in case, here is the "It's A Beautiful Day" [Official Video]:

My Take:

Sometimes a Butterfly just needs to RELAX. This is definitely a great album to un-wind with after a long day, so for Motivation Monday I leave you with one thought 'To Be Loved'!

Buy it at a great price (amazon always has great prices!):

. . . Featuring Norah Jones CD Review

I am already in holidays mode, and 'Casa de Butterfly' which doubles as my office literally looks like Santa's Workshop. And yes, I know that's a good thing. While my heart is certainly filled with gratitude, being in 'Super ON' mode all the time, has taken its toll.

I've been in 'go, go, go' mode, attending events, juggling consulting work and writing and trying to get some major repairs done at home and get things ready for the holidays. It's been a bit stressful lately....to say the least.

For me, one of my favorite ways to de-stress has always been a long hot bath, accompanied by some mellow tunes. (OK, and maybe a relaxing beverage of some sort and my favorite lavendar scented bath products and candles!)

Our Friends at One2OneNetwork must have sensed my stress levels were on high this week, because one of the packages I opened in the mail included Norah Jones ...Featuring, the album will be in stores Tuesday, November 16th, and it arrived at just the right time! One of the songs on my 'Mellow' Playlist that I like to play while de-stressing in the tub is 'Come Away with Me' by Norah Jones, so she is already on heavy rotation in my iPod!

This album was recorded from 2001 to 2010. It features Duets and Collaborations, spanning a musical spectrum that truly does contain a little something for everyone! And incredibly timely there is even a holiday themed track with Norah and Willie Nelson, their take on 'Baby It's Cold Outside'.

I'd heard most of them, but there were a few surprises on this CD for me including 'Soon the New Day' with Talib Kweli and her duet with Q-Tip called 'Life is Better'.  Definitely pleasant surprises! On the duet with Q-Tip I honestly wouldn't have known it was her if I were hearing it on the radio. It had a really strong Erykah Badu vibe to it, and I honestly wonder if it was written with Erykah originally in mind. This track really showed a great range in Norah's voice and her 'vibe'. I love it when artists step out of the box, and stretch a bit.

One of my favorite tracks on this album has to be the first one, 'Love Me' her collaboration with The Little Willies, while I'd heard it, hearing it again, reminded me just how much I like it, and I've been singing along to it all week! (Don't you just love the repeat button?)

I like the idea of having the duets all in one place!

Interesting fact: Norah is the daughter of Indian sitar player Ravi Shankar and concert producer Sue Jones.

Give Up The Ghost!

Thanks to our friends at the one2one network I had the chance to listen to Brandi Carlile’s new album “Give Up The Ghost”. I was already quite familiar with Brandi, and will have to admit I found myself quite excited to hear her latest release. A lot of you may remember the song ‘Turpentine’ – which featured in the smash-hit show ‘Grey’s Anatomy’. And others may remember Brandi’s legendary cover of Leonard Cohen’s 'Hallelujah'! The song 'Closer to You' (on the the self-titled debut album) is another one of my favorites.

She combines blues and soul with a nod to Bonnie Raitt and in some tracks on her new album I also hear a K.D. Lang influence, her voice is powerful and clear with a raw edge and a great delivery that makes you want to sing along. There are no 'skippable' tracks on this one! There are however two tracks that stand out for me, the first single off the album 'Dreams' as well as the track 'Looking Out'.

Tracklisting
Looking Out

Five for Fighting is Back!

Five For Fighting is back with their next great album "Slice" full of finely-crafted songs by @JohnOndrasik (Twitter). The Album will be released October 13 and features the single "Chances". You can Watch John's performance of "Chances" on the CBS early show HERE.

First single “Chances”  with lyrics like “Until you crash what have you done/Is there a better bet than love.”, is described by John who says “It’s all about taking the swing—there’s beauty in the scars.” - Sometimes it's the simplest truth that tends to elude us for awhile and it takes that fresh way of presenting it that helps it to finally stick. Music has always been such a powerful force for me. Bet that on most days you can remember the lyrics in their entirety to your favorite songs, but invariably you'll forget something important at the supermarket! LOL

I'm sure that like me, many of you out there have been a fan of Five for Fighting since you first heard ‘Superman' and ‘100 Years'.  While written and released well before 9/11, “Superman” has endeared Ondrasik to the survivors and families of those lost in that tragedy, as well as to servicemen serving around the world. As a New Yorker, the track 'Superman' certainly does hold powerful memories for me.

Ondrasik also conceived and produced For the Troops, a series of compilations featuring superstar recording artists that are available for free to every active service member in the U.S. Armed Forces (the forthcoming collection, For The Troops III, will feature comedians exclusively). Ondrasik’s charity work doesn’t stop there. His site, whatkindofworlddoyouwant.com collects money for various charities. Living in a society that can get wrapped up in celebrity and fame, it very much warms my heart to see those who use this celebrity to help and benefit those in need. Way to Go John!

Ascending Butterfly in conjunction with the One2One Network was recently given the opportunity to review "Slice" at just the perfect time. As most of you know, Ascending Butterfly offices were closed for the holiday weekend (although I will admit, I was forced to push my own advice to the side and make it a working holiday anyway!). I went on an impromptu road trip over the Columbus Day Holiday Weekend and this album certainly became the perfect soundtrack to that journey! As we got farther from the hustle and bustle of the city and the scenery changed to the trees covered in a robe of fall leaves, John's voice became another friend in the car and 'Slice' had my un-divided attention in a way that nothing usually does when I'm sitting at my desk or I'm writing.

I am certainly grateful for the opportune timing (nothing better than new music for a long road trip!), but I am happy to say I really enjoyed the album! Standout Tracks for me are 'Slice', 'Hope', and 'Story of Your Life'.  The entire album takes you along for a journey, that journey will often-times mirror your own so well, it will feel like hanging out with that friend you've known forever.
