Our weather here has been nuts, it started getting rainy and cooler, and then got hot again. This past weekend was very much 'Indian Summer' here, but having lived in NYC all my life I know just how quickly the weather changes. I am not willing to compromise on style just because the weather turns. And I also need boots that are 'commuter city friendly'. There's a lot of walking that happens in this city (and trains which means lots of stairs too).

I'm a boot lover, I love boots as much as I love handbags and I definitely found this years 'favorite pair'. Not too short, not thigh highs, but just like in the Goldilocks and The Three Bears tale, these boots are 'just right'. The weather hadn't even turned when the boots arrived, but I was like a kid at Christmas who wants to play with their new toy all day long! I have worn them almost constantly since I received them and I love them! I haven't found any outfit they don't match with, and most importantly I don't have to sacrifice form for function, they are equal parts comfortable and pretty! And for those girls who are 'wide' or 'athletic' calves, you'll be happy to know these fit  me well and I'm wide calf myself.

My Take:

In the picture above I am wearing my Prance boots to the DVD release party for Bridemaids! It was a rainy and cool evening, and these were just perfect. I was on my feet quite a bit and when I got home my feet were not even tired!

These are available in Black and a brown color called 'Almond' and I can tell you I am going back for them in Brown, I love them that much!

And if you are thinking 'Deja Shoe', you would be right, I've worked with Earth Footwear before, here are my reviews for the Talera shoes (perfect heels for work or play with comfort footbed) and the Veria shoes (these are so perfect for an evening out, and that red is totally a head turner, I LOVE these shoes and always get compliments when I wear them). I've got to admit that my Prance boots are edging older pairs out, I find myself reaching for these first. With Earth Shoes I have to half size up from normal shoe size, it somehow works out better for me regardless of whether or not it's a heel or a flat. (Remember, that may or may not apply to you, but I always like to share my full experience with a product).

With the countdown clock ticking and Fashion Night Out rapidly approaching, most of us are thinking Fashion and Beauty, and here in New York City I'm prepping for a full week of event hopping, Spring 2012 Fashion Shows and unfortunately rainy weather.

Despite the gloomy weather, I will have a pep in my step and that's thanks to Earthies Footwear! I am 'stepping into Fall' in style this season in a Fashion Forward Pump that's as trendy as it is comfortable. I have to start by admitting that 'Talera' is a bit higher than my normal pump, so the height took getting used to but these sleek, classic pumps are so me, leather, minimalist and yes black!

These heels pair perfectly with suits, slacks, denim, dresses, I can't think of one outfit that they wouldn't pair with. These are that classic black shoe that you must have in your wardrobe, they are the shoe equivalent of the little black dress.

My Take:

This is my second pair of Earthies and much like the first time around I needed to size up, with this pair I had to size up a whole size (with the last pair I sized up a half size). I found that the thicker heel offers better stability and much like my Earthies Verias (you can check out my review for the Verias HERE), the Talera is proof that the word comfort and heels really can go together! While sizing up may or may not be necessary for you, you will find you can't go wrong with the Talera. It's offered in Black, Mahogany (a rich, deep chocolate color), and Merlot, and much like with my Verias experience, I definitely want this one in more than one color.

My Take

While everyone's foot is different, I'm wide width (flat foot) coupled with a high instep so for me, I ended up having to size up a bit before I found the sole that worked well for me. Once I hit on the right size for MY feet, it's been a summer of love, love, love ever since. I love that I can find a cover for any mood I'm in. I started with the Skull Rose, CB Bandanaz, Jet Black, and Dragon Rose in the adult Slip on Style. (I'm definitely thinking of getting the Hi-Tops next, those definitely take me back!)

It takes a bit to get the hang of changing out the covers and I found it easier to put my foot on the sole first, and then zip myself in rather than zip it first and try to get my foot in (but that's because I'm wide width), but once you figure out which technique works best for you, you will be swapping covers every day!

The Fashion Footwear Association of New York's Footwear Trade Show returns to NYC from August 2-4, 2011. Members of the shoe industy and press will descend upon the Hilton New York Hotel for all things footwear! If you missed the show the last time it hit NYC, you are going to want to make sure you catch it this time around!

About FFANY

The Fashion Footwear Association of New York has been bringing footwear manufacturers and retailers, the industry players, together for thirty years. They are a not-for-profit trade association representing footwear manufacturers from around the world and are prominent members of the New York Fashion Community.

Their Mission:

FFANY’s mission is to promote and assist the common business interests of its members, who include over 300 footwear manufacturers, representing over 800 fashion footwear, accessory and related apparel brands.

The goal of their tradeshows, held in February, June, August and December, is to create one exciting marketplace in New York City, the fashion capital of the world. Here, exhibiting footwear manufacturers and attending retailers can efficiently buy, sell and develop business networks.

Spring 2012 Trends

My schedule is not going to permit me attending the show for the entire duration this time around, so I made it a point to visit as many exhibitors as I could in one day and get you guys an overview of what is coming for Spring. As for visuals, most of the Spring 2012 styles were available for Press to view, but as for visuals to share, for the most part everything was under embargo, but most brands did share an overview of what to expect and the Espadrille (which all admitted never really go out of style), will be popular again next Spring, you can also expect to see a lot of brights, some brands are taking the brights to neon heights, and there will be prints, cork footbeds, some tie dye (yes my shoe lovers, you will see tie dyes from a few well known brands next Spring) and many told me they are leaning toward smooth uppers with less stitching detail. Some will be jewel embellished, but you will see smooth uppers trend. and many styles will have dual colors worked into the shoe uppers, with some doing this color blocking more subtle, and others a bit bolder!

As more brands say it's OK to start sharing Spring 2012 styles, I'll begin posting them, and we will be hosting a variety of reviews and giveaways of different shoe brands for Fall/Winter 2011.

Joya Womens Marilyn Shoe

I had the chance to try out the Joya Womens Marilyn Shoe, I am still breaking these in as I have a SUPER high instep, but they do feel like I'm walking on a cloud! I normally have the most trouble with my arches, and my arches are not barking with these. What I love is that much like my favorite shoes from Ryn, the Joya shoe also dramatically improves my posture! Despite the fact that they consider themselves more of a 'soft shoe' than a 'rocker' shoe, they do seem to offer me the same benefits I love from my Rocker Shoes, improved posture, and less joint stress as I walk.

My Take

Joya is a 'sister' company of sorts to our friends at Ryn, who have been featured several times on Ascending Butterfly and for very good reason!
