My Take:

My visit this year to the Magnolia at Best Buy Home Theater experience was in fact super helpful. Being able to ask the experts those technical questions BEFORE you invest just plain makes sense. And for those of you who prefer shopping brick and mortar over online I think it's pretty neat to have discounts and offers just for YOU, and just in-store. There are some things I am willing to buy online, and others I just have to see and touch and try for myself before I buy! New York City has been hit by back to back snowstorms and the Polar Vortex was starting to put a cramp in my fitness style, but then I remembered my Wii and my Wii Fitness Board and got back to work! Trust when I tell you I am NOT making a political statement of any kind here, but I have never shopped 'Black Friday'. I hate crowds. I refuse to get trampled for a discount, no matter how great it may be. And I'm not going out shopping on Thanksgiving Day. MY TAKE:

As you guys probably know I've had a lot of devices that don't play nice with wi-fi or the device was smart, but my plan was not, this is the first time in a long time where both my plan and device have been able to keep up with me! I don't like being locked into any plan, I have never done it and now with Zact Mobile I will never have to, I will literally only pay for what I actually use. I avoid texting like the plague and love that I can opt out of it completely or pick the lowest amount of texts, it's data that I need most on a mobile device as they come along with me to events where I need to sometimes live tweet or blog. While as you guys now I am NOT a mom, I am an Aunt and a former Special Education Teacher, I have dealt with tons of young adults and teens and I do think that Zact Mobile is an amazing family plan! In fact, while my sister butterfly is a super hard sell, I'm thinking this plan might turn her around on getting niece and nephew butterflies their own smartphone. I love the safety factor of them always being able to reach family when they need us.

I had of course tried to activate my new device online, but there was a bit of a complication with my number transfer (I had just got a new batch of cards so I needed to transfer my number, so what? Don't Judge Me! LOL) so I did actually experience Zact's Customer Service, and they were phenomenal! In fact I had emailed them, but being the impatient one that I am, I decided to call shortly after sending the email, the rep that answered was actually the person answering my email so he immediately referred to me by name before I even gave it actually, Color me impressed! Now that's service!

I haven't completed the first full month yet (almost there though!), so I don't know yet how my actual usage will compare to what I think I use per month, and I am interested to find out how my bill will actually average out and will keep you guys posted of course!

For long time readers of this blog it is no surprise that I have been plagued with one huge challenge when it comes to my tech devices, they never seem to play nice with the WiFi anywhere. No matter what the venue, which device I bring, I rarely ever am able to get on the WiFi. The first month I had it I used it during my trips and for various events and when I wasn't using it, another Editor was. This month as my intermittent service was at it's worse I had to rely on the Hotspot for my primary use and not just travel or event use so I actually did finally manage to go through all the data this month before the month was even over. But I'm definitely a 'power user' and go through a lot of data so I'm actually surprised that it didn't happen to me during the first month I tested it.

I live in New York City and I have tested it pretty much all over the City and outer boroughs, my home which is nowhere near any hotspots, and of course during my visit to Chicago and was quite impressed by the speed and reliability!

MY TAKE:

Mobile Broadband has helped me make anywhere my 'Portable Office'! I love that I can use this with any device and it has proven fast, safe and reliable for me inside and outside my City. Mobile Broadband is an absolute necessity for me and NetZero 4G Broadband has actually proven more reliable for me than my Cable Internet has. I will tell you when I had to rely on it solely I did eat through the data limit for Platinum before half the month, but as a Power user that was pretty much to be expected. My intention was to make this what I use mostly for daily events and for travel and conferences. I had no idea when I first began using it that at some point it would be the only form of access for my home office, so I do have to say I'm super impressed at how reliable it's proven to be for me, at a price that is actually LESS than what I currently pay for the un-reliable cable internet I'm currently using!

At 4.4 ounces it's a little too big for your pocket but will easily slip into your handbag, and what I love is that once I put it on, I can leave it in my purse and I don't have to physically have it right on top of the device that I am using to get a good signal. You don't need any drivers for it, and you can connect up to 8 devices at once. It should work within a 150 foot range (I have used it on devices in other rooms and didn't experience any lag) and you can also connect WHILE this device is still charging which is excellent!
