Ƹ̵̡Ӝ̵̨̄Ʒ - Heeding my own advice! -  As a life coach I spend a lot of time convincing people that they need to come out of their comfort zones to make change in their lives. Well I finally heeded my own advice. I got out of my comfort zone behind the camera, and spent some time in front of it. I definitely developed a new respect for television personalities, they make it look so easy! Thanks for the encouraging comments you all sent me regarding my very first VLOG!

Ƹ̵̡Ӝ̵̨̄Ʒ - Super Awesome Interview! - I got the chance to interview Gerard Butler while he was in Miami promoting his new movie Playing for Keeps! It was a conference call and myself and one other awesome blogger (Rosy from Accidental Sexiness!) got to ask Gerard Butler questions about his new movie. I asked 3 questions, and 2 were from Ascending Butterfly readers! I posted asking everyone if they could ask Gerard Butler one question about his upcoming new movie what would it be. I used one question that was asked on the post, and the other from a twitter follower! Stay tuned this week for a review of the movie and the questions and answers session from that interview.

Weekly Moment of #Gratitude - Thanksgiving Edition #WhyImGrateful

It seemed appropriate that this week's 'Weekly Moment of Gratitude' be posted on Thanksgiving Day!

What I am grateful for:

Ƹ̵̡Ӝ̵̨̄Ʒ - Just Being Here! -  Last year in October I began a Medical Roller-Coaster that I'm still sorting through. But considering 2012 started with a Specialist telling me to 'get my affairs in order', I'm fundamentally grateful just to have been able to wake up and have the gift of this day. This very day. The right here, the right now.

Ƹ̵̡Ӝ̵̨̄Ʒ - A Home Cooked Meal! - After a full year in and out of hospitals for month long stays, I am happy to be eating a home cooked meal that I can actually stomach!

Ƹ̵̡Ӝ̵̨̄Ʒ - My Home - With so many in the North East devasted by the Hurricane, I'm grateful for the roof over my head!

Ƹ̵̡Ӝ̵̨̄Ʒ - My Blogging Blessings! - Despite the uphill battle that this past year has been for me on a personal (as well as physical, emotional and spiritual) level, blogging has brought many wonderful blessings and many wonderful people into my life and for that I find myself feeling profoundly blessed and grateful. For all the brands both long term brands who have been with us since the begining, and for newer brands I have had the chance to collaborate with this year, I am grateful! (Special Shout Out to Britax, Duane Reade, Mami Innovative Media and Collective Bias for the wonderful opportunities working with you has presented me with!) And for all the wonderful blogging conferences I had the opportunity to attend, and learn and grow as a blogger (BlogHer, Niche Mommy, and the Fashion Forward Conference!)

What I am grateful for:

Frankenstorm Hurricane Sandy

Ƹ̵̡Ӝ̵̨̄Ʒ - Survived Frankenstorm Sandy! -  The East Coast was slammed with Hurricane Sandy, not so fondly called 'Frankenstorm Sandy'. Last year the biggest snowfall of the year on the East Coast was on Halloween, this year we got Hurricane Sandy for Halloween, we have definitely been getting 'tricked' big time. But flickering lights, intermittent Television and Internet Access were the worst of it for my family and for that I am grateful. Many people have faced devastating losses and quite a few friends are still without power and lights right now. And it's scary to think we have another storm coming our way this week. I'm trying to remain hope filled and optimistic, but it certainly seems as though Mother Nature is angry!

Ƹ̵̡Ӝ̵̨̄Ʒ - Grateful to be SORE! - This weekend I got back into the Gym and while I'm still sore, I'm super grateful for it! Being back in the gym made me realize just how much I missed it, and it also let me know I still have a ways to go before I'm back at 100% and that I need to give my body a bit more time to heal before I really start pushing myself again. Why was I in the gym? Why am I so sore? I'll post a full recap soon!

Ƹ̵̡Ӝ̵̨̄Ʒ - So Far So Safe! -  Right now I am super grateful to still have lights, power and water. How often do you remember to be thankful for those things? It's super easy to take 'little' things for granted until you don't have them and then you remember just how big they really are! So to all my fellow East Coasters just trying to survive 'Frankenstorm Sandy', my thoughts and prayers are with you right now! I hope you are not dealing with too much damage!

Ƹ̵̡Ӝ̵̨̄Ʒ - Digital Free Day! - I have kept up with one Digital Free Day per week, and have been thoroughly enjoying it. The more I do it, the less guilty I feel for taking some much needed time to myself. It lets me re-group and come back to things with a much better perspective!

Ƹ̵̡Ӝ̵̨̄Ʒ - Great Event! -  I got to attend a very special event in honor of Breast Cancer Awareness, which I recapped originally HERE. If you haven't already done so, celebrate a survivor in your life this month! My Mama Butterfly is a Cancer Survivor and she is my daily inspiration, I'm so glad we were able to attend this luncheon together!

Ƹ̵̡Ӝ̵̨̄Ʒ - Amazing Mail Week! - As a Digital Journalist, I'm taking my mail week and incredibly hectic schedule as a sign of optimism that the economy is starting to turn around!

Ƹ̵̡Ӝ̵̨̄Ʒ - Digital Free Day! - I have been taking a digital free at least once a week, it has not been easy I will tell you, I'm the type of person that always feels like each moment should be productive, and as a small business owner maximizing my time requires a lot of hours, but these digital free days have been very much needed and I plan to continue doing so. Difficult, but I will be very grateful during the holidays if I can keep this up! No more sneaking the smartphone to the bathroom to answer '1 more email'. :-)

Ƹ̵̡Ӝ̵̨̄Ʒ - YOU! -  I decided not to give up after all the encouraging messages I received when I entered the last phase of The Big Reboot, they haven't announced the winner yet of that phase, but the entries do not carry over, so I wrote a new essay entry for the next phase, never say never right? I am entering for the newest phase and if you would like to show your support with a vote, I'd greatly appreciate it! PRESS HERE! Ƹ̵̡Ӝ̵̨̄Ʒ - Good Stuff in the Mail! - I will admit that as a blogger, most days are great mail days, but I was really looking forward to something particular that finally arrived! During BlogHer I got the chance to attend the Getting Gorgeous Gift Suite and one of the sponsors that was there was a brand I am very well familiar with because my mom actually introduced me to them YEARS ago, Coldwater Creek. They have amazing customer service, and they were just as wonderful in person as I anticipated they would be. They were offering everyone who attended a pair of jeans of their choice, and they brought a wide variety of styles and sizes for us to try out. I selected the Trouser Jeans Style and they arrived in the mail this week!

Look at the lovely box the jeans arrived in!

The presentation was lovely and they included a personal note thanking ME for visiting their booth during Getting Gorgeous. I  mean really how super awesome and classy is that?

I will post pictures of me wearing them and a full review soon, when I tried them on I realized that when they arrived I would need to get them hemmed, so I have to visit my Tailor this week and have them hemmed before I can start wearing them.

Weekly Moment of Gratitude: Monday Motivation + New Orleans Here I Come Edition!

What I am grateful for:

Ƹ̵̡Ӝ̵̨̄Ʒ - I'm headed to New Orleans! -  On August 1st I wrote a post that served as a contest entry towards a sponsored trip to the Niche Mommy Conference in New Orleans (you can see the post HERE if you missed it) and I am super stoked to report that I actually won! I'm getting that nervous excited restless energy that I feel right before I travel somewhere new! I had no idea when I embarked on an Ambassadorship with @SafeConBritax that it would lead to many so new adventures! It started with a trip to Britax Headquarters earlier this year, and now the kickoff to a new blogging conference too. I loved the idea of becoming a Britax Ambassador from the very begining, because they put child safety first. I know the majority of my readers are moms. Moms from many different walks of life, but the common denominator for all moms is wanting your child to be safe. And that is Britax's goal, it's their mission. And the small way I get to be a part of that journey has been more rewarding than I ever could have anticipated. I'm grateful to be part of the program! I'm also grateful that this program has given me the opportunity to host giveaways for you so you can experience first hand just how wonderful Britax products really are!

Weekly Moment of Gratitude! The Post #BlogHer12 Edition!

What I am grateful for:

Ƹ̵̡Ӝ̵̨̄Ʒ - YOU! -  I wanted to thank you all again for your votes on my #windowstyle makeover entry, while I wasn't selected as one of the five winners, I was told I had the most tweets of support for my entry and that really means a lot to me. I wanted to personally thank all of you who took the time to tweet a vote on my behalf, I greatly appreciate it! I try to limit my vote requests for contests that really matter to me and try to ask as infrequently as possible, so when I work up the courage to make a vote request public it really means a lot to have you all vote! (and I am happy to return vote requests, so don't hesitate to post your requests here or tweet them to me!)

Ƹ̵̡Ӝ̵̨̄Ʒ - Survived BlogHer! - I wasn't exactly sure my body was going to be up for the challenge this year, but somehow I not only survived the insanity that is BlogHer, but this year as conference volunteer who had the opportunity to live blog during some of the panels for BlogHer's website. So far, I have one recap live (day one, where the PRESIDENT addressed the conference, which you can read HERE) and I hope to have more posts up soon! I know it sounds weird, not that being sponsored the first time I attended BlogHer wasn't great, because it was (thanks to the great folks at stickylife.com who sponsored me in 2010 and were fantastic to work with), but I was really proud this year to be a volunteer. My medical expenses have been prohibitive, and finding a way to still be able to attend would have been close to impossible, so I am grateful that BlogHer offers the volunteer option and thankful that when I applied I was actually selected. It's the only way I was going to be able to attend this year that's for sure. This year I felt like I 'earned' my own way there, and that my friends is a great feeling!

Ƹ̵̡Ӝ̵̨̄Ʒ - Random Acts of Kindness! -  I was on the receiving end of a major RAOK, and I know the person who did it didn't do it to be acknowledged publicly, so I won't get too specific, but it did fill my spirit with gratitude, enough to know that I want to pay it forward and will.
