Are you crafty? In the good way that is!

I developed a love of scrapbooking from my Grandmother, and while I know she didn't invent it, I can tell you with assurance she re-invented it! She was the most creative person I know with all things crafty, scrapbooking, embroidery, you name it. When she put a personal touch on something, you would never forget it. I now have her albums, which are all scrapbooks, because not one photo album is plain, they are all designed with borders, shapes and embellishments that she created by hand, no machines. I still have embroidered pillowcases that she made me, all personalized with my initials and intricate designs and borders. I absolutely cherish them.

While I still have the love of scrapbooking and all things crafty, I don't always have the time, and admittedly the patience to make all my borders, shapes and embellishments by hand. Luckily I don't have to!

I also developed a love for handmade cards throughout the years and I wanted to find a way to create them at home, there is something about a hand made card that store bought just can't touch! And as I am sure many of you learned the hard way, not all printers handle thick cardstock very well, and using your printer on cardstock even if your printer can handle the thickness can end up using a ton of ink if you are making borders on cardstock with your printer. Even worse you can sometimes end up with excess ink that you are unaware of until you go to print a spreadsheet or presentation and see smearing of the color on the page!

I wish my Grandma could be here to help me put the Creatopia through it's paces (although afterwards it certainly would have gone to her!), but I did make some totally cute handmade cards so far, updated my scrapbooks, and made photo frames too! I think I did grandma proud!

My Take

I often get teased for hating to read manuals to set things up, but my aversion to manuals actually worked better for me when setting up and getting to know my Creatopia! I relied on YouTube tutorials to help me get started, get project ideas and get my creative juices flowing! I even included one of the YouTube videos so you could see it in action too! I would highly advise you to watch the videos as well if you are a total novice. Intermediates are going to be thrilled at the versatility this machine offers. Advanced and 'power creative' types will incorporate the Creatopia into their project room and probably come up with ideas that even Xyron hasn't thought up yet! As I get more advanced with it I'd like to take on making my own boxes and custom packages as I'm an aspiring jewelry designer and I want a creative and totally personal packaging that is unique to each piece that I design!

Ƹ̵̡Ӝ̵̨̄Ʒ - I can't get over how easy this machine makes borders for me, this is the part that normally took me the longest in scrapbooking, and this little wonder definitely cuts down on the time it takes, and I can now go much thicker, and use pretty thick cardstock, for certain themes and effects it is amazing to have more flexibility!

Ƹ̵̡Ӝ̵̨̄Ʒ -You can truly laminate 12 x 12 so if you are working on a cookbook for family recipes, you are going to LOVE this!

Cons

Ƹ̵̡Ӝ̵̨̄Ʒ - Big Footprint, but that is to be expected for the flexibility of being able to truly laminate 12 x 12
Ƹ̵̡Ӝ̵̨̄Ʒ - It's a bit awkward at first changing out. Like changing the patternz, cutz etc which can be eliminated simply by having your laptop or ipad handy when you are setting up so you can cue up a helpful instructional video to help you get started!
