I have always loved Black Forest Cake, it's tied with Strawberry Shortcake as my all time favorite cake! I even had a favorite restaurant (in Atlantic City, New Jersey) where I'd go eat this famous German Dessert Cake. Unfortunately that restaurant is no longer there, leaving an empty whole in my heart where my favorite Black Forest Cake used to be.

I'd sometimes toss and turn and dream of my favorite cake treat! But somehow the universe really does have a crazy way of manifesting our desires. And this time in the form of those Dreamweavers at Cheesecake.com!

It's like they literally reached into my dreams and combined two amazing things into one fabulous Sweet Treat! The NY Black Forest Cheesecake from Cheesecake.com took all the things that make a Black Forest Cake so delightful, the cherries, and not just any cherries by the way, but California port wine cherries,  and on top you will find a layer of deep chocolate devil's food crumbs, this is combined with sinfully rich and velvety smooth cheesecake! It's like someone reached into my dreams and devised my dream dessert.

About the NYC Winter Wine Fest

Ƹ̵̡Ӝ̵̨̄Ʒ - EVENT: NYC’s favorite wine tasting just got better…We are going to turn the Best Buy Theatre in Times Square (formerly NOKIA) into a gargantuan vineyard. Wines from all over the world – great Zinfandels from California…Super Tuscans from Italy…crisp Bordeaux from France…and some amazing wines from Latin America. Over 200 wine selections to taste in all. Last year this event was named by NBC Local Television as the “must attend event” of the first weekend in February. And last year the event was SOLD OUT…so what are we doing this year?? We are creating more room and more space for attendees, AND there are two (2) sessions this year, afternoon and evening. That means more wine, more food and more room to stretch out and enjoy.

Ƹ̵̡Ӝ̵̨̄Ʒ - MUSIC: Special performance by Shilts, formerly from Down To The Bone! Shilts is the former leader of contemporary funk/jazz band Down to the Bone. He will take the stage for a set to close out each session of the festival. His music is funky and danceable and has a party flavor -- more so than typical Contemporary Jazz. He weaves in catchy Funk and Soul grooves. The band is a 5 piece group featuring sax, guitar, organ, bass, and drums. All top notch players. It's a perfect way to finish the night. Having Shilts on the stage ensures that the 2011 NYC Winter Wine Festival is indeed a "festival". Listen to his music.

I love the idea of good wine, good eats, live jazz music and the company of great friends! And I certainly hope to see YOU there too!

Happy Father' Day! OK, so right now it's a little bit early, but not to early to start thinking of gifts! Most people I know say that shopping for Dad is the hardest. While most I know say their moms just don't want them to spend too much, their dads say 'I don't need anything'.

Well most of us don't technically 'NEED' anything, but we want everything, am I right? Don't let dad off the hook that easy, while his lips may grumble 'I don't need anything', trust me folks, there is a little boy in there who WANTS stuff. Cool Stuff. Unique Stuff.

Ladies, trust me when I say the one thing that will never change is that the way to a Man's Heart is through his stomach. His food loving, amazingly quick calorie burning stomach.  Feed him and he's YOURS!

This Memorial Day weekend was so much more memorable with the arrival of some special review baskets! It's a tough job but somebody has to do it! And with family and friends over, I can tell you the contents of these baskets went QUICK! (I received two of them today well after everyone left, so those are mine, all MINE! Hopefully no one I know is reading this, SHHH don' tell anyone! LOL)

I have been giving and receiving baskets as gifts for YEARS now, and I will say that the best presenation by far has been with 800 Baskets. You receive it exactly as pictured, and they are always so much fun to open. There is attention to detail from the contents, to how it's packaged and wrapped, and even with the shipping, the attention to detail is there. Instead of a box that lets out packing peanuts all over the carpet, the peanuts themselves were contained in their own packaging so the basket was protected from being bumped in transit, but was also easy open with no mess.

This was one of the ones that arrived during memorial day weekend, I'm amazed that I even was able to save one for me, these went super quick. I loved the box and that each one was individually wrapped. It's the best of both worlds, a crunchy pretzel dipped in a sinfully delicious candy topping! Sweet & Salty! Basket 2: This one also arrived during Memorial Day weekend, and the contents were prepared and quickly devoured. All I can say is that there is a reason why Breakfast is considered the most important meal of the day! I don't know what arrangement 800baskets.com has with Fedex but this arrived early in the am and everyone was hungry! While more hands meant this basket disappeared quickly, it was fun having help in the kitchen! Creating your Candle - My Experience!

Step 1 - When I sat down to design my candle, I had a lot on my mind. The year had already begun and thoughts of where I was at that particular point, where I wanted to be and the possibilities the year contained all played in my mind. Step 1 in designing the candle asks you to pick an intention. And this shouldn't be taken lightly whether this is for yourself or a gift. While there were various 'intentions' that spoke directly to me, I chose 'New Beginings' because that is what I want to create. I want to welcome new experiences both personally and professionally in my life and this selection is meant to 'inspire positive feelings about change and welcome a new direction'. Perfect!

Step 2 - Select a color. I read through them all, and again various color choices appealed to me for different reasons including the 'wine' color, but ultimately I chose 'Red' which is 'Fire' - Representative of excitement; energy; strength; health; vitality; courage; power and willpower; enthusiasm; overcoming obstacles; passion; speed; strength; all elements of love throughout your life'. This greatly appealed to me because I wanted to overcome the obstacles that stand in the way to the 'New Begining' that I seek for myself. It's amazing how well both the 'intention' (Step 1) and 'color choice' (step 2) tied in to my particular wants and needs! I will admit I couldn't help but read every option with great care and enthusiasm. I haven't found myself this excited about personalizing a gift in quite awhile!

Step 3 - This is a fun step, this is where you pick your fragrance preference. There are a ton of scents to choose from, I selected 'Frankincense and Myrrh - This warm, woody, balsamic aroma blends the mystical resins of frankincense and myrrh.' - It's a personal favorite of mine and I was very excited to see it included among the options!

Are you getting the dreaded 'Your Entry Can't Be Processed' message when leaving an entry or comment? Before hitting enter, highlight your comment and COPY it. If you get that message after hitting enter and your comment is still there, just ignore the message and hit enter again, then you will get a screen with a captcha code, enter the captcha code, then submit and VOILA. If after you hit the submit button the first time, you get the dreaded message and the comment 'disappeared' no worries, that's why I asked you to copy it in the first step. Paste it back in and submit again. This has worked for me when comment boxes have glitched on me, and I hope it helps you too!
