IZEAFEST ON THE BRAIN

I just found out about IzeaFest and boy do I want to go! If the prospect of attending BlogHer 2010 had me all ' a buzz', IzeaFest has generated even MORE excitement. If that's even possible. Now this really just boils down to location. I know both will have programs that will provide countless opportunity for this young blogger to learn, grow and interface. But IzeaFest is being held in Florida. Sunny Florida! Aside from the fact that this has been the rainiest summer in the big apple that I can ever remember, I absolutely love water, I love the beach, being near the Ocean is the only time I'm ever really still, ever really at peace. (And when I can find opportunities to go HorseBack Riding on the Beach, even better!)

I apologize readers, I've been wildly distracted lately, I know you are here for a moment of inspiration to take you AWAY from work world thoughts for awhile.

A twitter friend sent out a quote last night that I knew would make a great topic for us today:

I remember hearing women say as I grow up, it's better to spend a life with someone who loves you more than you love them. Hearing that always confused me. I always felt there couldn't be any richness in living life that way, with 'one-sided' love.

What are your thoughts on love? Are you in love now? If so, is it 'one-sided'? Do you love them more than they love you? Do they love you more than you really love them? Are you happy? Are you fulfilled in your current relationship?

Today's Inspiration is not going to be a definition of love. Life and time will help you define that for yourself. Just spend some time thinking about the 'Love' in your life and whether or not you are fulfilled by it. Appreciate it all, all the love you have now, the love you have had and even the love you are waiting for if you are single (like me); but most importantly dear readers, make sure it is all loving and appreciating you right back!

Just Another Manic Monday

I wish it was Sunday, because that's my fun day, when I don't have to run day.....Yes, Manic Monday by the Bangles circa 1986 is playing in the background! (Where were you then? What memories does that song conjure up for you? Want to share your best 'big hair' pictures from back then? LOL)

While I know it's quite easy for Monday's conjure up busy images and thoughts, get your mind off your never-ending 'to-do' list. At least for a moment.

I have to admit this quote jumped out at me when taking pause to reflect on the work week ahead:

NOTE: On Sunday, 'Today's Moment of Inspiration' becomes the weekly 'Moment of Gratitude'. While I do still live in Gratitude each and everyday, I decided to change this feature to a weekly to allow a 'full week' of Inspirational messages and breathing meditations. Silly Saturday

Just thought it would be fun to have a 'Silly Summer Saturday'. Sleeping in late, left over pizza from Friday's Family Game night, watching a Blu-Ray and maybe time for all that 'me' stuff that rarely gets done during the week (can you say at home facial mask?? Thank God It's Friday!

TGIF Ascending Butterflies! I'm so happy it's finally Friday! I am definitely getting tired of this almost every day rainy summer! I spent the evening watching videos last night. I finally got to see Vicky Christina Barcelona and Grand Torino! Both good in very different ways. See, lemonade out of lemons. If it's going to rain every day, I'll get very caught up on movies I haven't seen. (If the film studios are reading this, we'd love to review new video releases!)

WHO DO YOU KNOW?

How has the week been treating you so far? Yesterday was an exciting day here, we announced the two winners of our Tres Sleek Giveaway! I hope you took a moment to say congratulations to them both on the winner announcement thread! There is a surprise coming up real soon, so if you didn't win this time around, don't fret my butterflies, there is still hope on the horizon.

This past weekend taught me the value of the expression, 'it's not what you know, it's WHO you know.' It truly proved to be true for me this weekend and made me think profoundly on my 'who's'.

It made me realize the importance of those people in my life who I can count on. Who do you know? How well do you really know them? We often-times take the people in our lives for granted until we need them. That isn't fair to them or you. Have you lost touch with someone you now miss? It's never too late! Depending on how many 'who's' you have, this may not be feasible to do all in one day, but today, this week, this month, reach out to everyone you know. Just say hi. Remind them you are thinking of them. Call them. Email them. Pick up the lost art of letter writing and write to your 'who's'. Take time to reach out to those you hold most dear to you. Tell everyone in your house that you love them. Give them a hug. It will make their day brighter, and your life richer.

Monday, July 20, 2009 - Today's Words of Inspiration and a butterfly giveaway!

Happy Monday!

I hope everyone had a great weekend, and got a chance to spend some time outdoors! It was an exciting weekend to say the least! I'm not going to re-post it all, but I will say as a reminder, please remember to wear BOTH sunblock and bug repellant when spending time outdoors this summer!

We've spent tons of time so far on the personal, so I thought for today we'd switch gears and make today's inspirational meditation about work. Whether you have a job you love, a job you hate or would be happy with either one of the above considering the economy, goal setting is very important! The question from your youth will now be asked of you again - 'So, what do YOU want to be when you grow up?'

Think about it.

No, really think about it. And no quick replies please. No smarty pants answers like 'rich'. What truly makes you feel fulfilled? ahem guys, professionally!

Is there still some dream from childhood floating around your head? Why aren't you doing THAT???? You should be. And take it from me, I was told by many a school guidance counselor that writing was NOT a 'real' career. Yet here I am, and here YOU are.

Are you at a crossroads, personally or professionally? If you are, your heart, soul, spirit (you give it the label) wants not more per se, but something DIFFERENT from where you are now. Spend some time today exploring these two questions. If you keep a journal, write these two questions down and take the time to answer them at some time today when you won't be disturbed. Maybe during your lunch break? Maybe before bed? 1) What do I want to be when 'I Grow Up'? (2) What would I do if money weren't a factor? (play in a rock band, train to be an astronaut?) Don't censor yourself. Write everything that comes into your mind as you ask yourself these questions.

I'm sure you can all join me in a hearty T.G.I.F. and not the chain restaurant! It's been an amazingly productive week here at Ascending Butterfly, I truly hope it's been a productive AND fulfilling week for each and every one of you as well!

Use Today's Words of Inspiration as a breathing meditation to still your mind, quiet your thoughts and bring in positive energy. As you inhale bring in only positive energy by saying in your mind, I breathe in positive energy (or you can say creative energy if that is what you wish to create more of) and as you exhale, Affirm out loud today 'I give myself the same love, care and attention that I do for my family, friends and work. I matter.'

Visualize yourself manifesting something unique, guided by universal forces that emerge spontaneously from within your soul. Do this at least twice today and see how by taking a moment away from the hectic pace and breathing in positive energy and affirming what you wish to create, your thinking will become different!

Remember, attitude really does determine altitude.

I have many daily sources of inspiration, one day I will take the time to list them, a directory of happiness of sorts. I make it a strong point to get happiness in my inbox as well. Newsletters that fill me with inspiration and make opening emails a pleasure instead of a chore.
