On Sunday, 'Today's Moment of Inspiration' becomes the weekly 'Moment of Gratitude'. While I do still live in Gratitude each and everyday, I decided to change this feature to a weekly to allow a full week of Inspirational messages and breathing meditations.

I had never tried out La Mer before (I know, I know) and I now understand the cult following these products have, they are pricey, but oh so worth it! I now wish I had taken them up on their facial offer, but I didn't have time and think I will have to do that next time!

I can't beleive we are days away from October! Soon the leaves will change color and pumpkins will grace doorways with their eerie smiles and September will be a memory.

Friday, September 25, 2009 - Today's Words of Inspiration and TWO giveaways!

This week has flown by and I will admit to being very happy it is finally Friday! The week shot by so fast that I haven't even finalized my plans yet!

For me when a week just passes so quickly it literally brings new meaning to the expression 'in the blink of an eye', it makes me just want to take the weekend real slow. My inner butterfly could really use a massage! (Any New York City Day Spa Owners out there reading this! LOL)

Although, what ends up happening is trying to squeeze in as much fun as you possibly can in two days! So in an effort to follow my own advice, I plan on giving myself some time for meditation upon rising on Saturday morning, I hope you'll consider doing the same. (Even if it turns out to be Saturday afternoon for you). A sort of 'slow down' so you can 'speed up' later kind of thing.

Use 'Today's Words of Inspiration' as a breathing meditation to still your mind, quiet your thoughts and bring in positive energy. As you inhale bring in only positive energy by saying in your mind, I breathe in positive energy (or you can say creative energy if that is what you wish to create more of) and as you exhale, Affirm out loud today 'I will make the most of my weekend, not just the 'best of it'.

Hispanic Heritage Month

Each year, from September 15 to October 15, the United States celebrates Hispanic Heritage Month to recognize the economic, cultural, and social contributions of the more than 47 million Latinos residing in the U.S. The dates of Hispanic Heritage Month were selected to include the Independence Day celebrations of Costa Rica, El Salvador, Guatemala, Honduras, Nicaragua, Mexico, and Chile, as well as to incorporate Día de la Raza—a holiday celebrated in Mexico on October 12 observing the colonization, exploration, and multicultural heritage of the Americas.

The National Council of La Raza has a great calendar of events on their website of activities taking place during the celebration HERE.

We sometimes lean on our occupation, culture, socio-economic status or our labels within our family structures to help us identify with who or what we are. At best, it's a mixture of all those things. And as a very proud Latina, I enjoy looking for ways to share community with other Latinos especially during Heritage Month.

Whether you are of Latino Ancestry or not, each and every day is a good day to look internally and figure out what you identify with being. Identify the WHO in who YOU are.

SUN IN LIBRA

Today the sun is in Libra! The sun's entrance into Libra marks the first day of autumn in the Northern Hemisphere. Libra is the sign of teamwork, partnership and relationships, which will be the focus through the next few weeks. I love when the sun is in Libra, collaborations always turn out better for me. And since my life is surrounded by those under the Libra zodiac sign I have many birthdays to celebrate in the next few weeks too. (Happy Birthday to all Libran friends and family!) Must control urge to eat all the birthday cake! oops that was a note to self.....

I read a passage today by Holiday Mathis that I'd love to quote here:

AUTUMNAL EQUINOX: The sun's transit into Libra has been celebrated by ancient and modern cultures alike. The imagery of Libra's scales and the theme of balance are inspired by the equality of nighttime to daylight. It's also a turning point, since the nights increase in length in the weeks to come. This is traditionally a time to pull together our resources and connect with loved ones to harvest the bounty around us and store up for the colder months. Since very few of us are actually farmers in this age, our harvest is of a different nature. What, besides the basics of food, water and shelter, will sustain you through the winter? And who helps you get it? For some, it's love and romance that add passion to the season. For others, it's special projects or art. For still others, it's intellectual growth, physical fitness or the satisfaction of a family well cared for or a job well done. Give some thought to what you have in your life that makes it great. My Favorite Penguin is not from Antartica Anymore!

Once I hit the pressure relase the unit opened easily and I was able to check whether or not the carbonation was to my satisfaction. It took several attempts to get the level of carbonation and flavor mixed to my complete soda satisfaction. Everyone's taste buds are different so you'll have to play with it to get the balance of carbonation and flavor that works for you and your family.

There are an amazing variety of mixes to choose from including: Cola (customer’s favorite - mine too!) , Energy (Compare to Red Bull®), Ginger Ale (Crisp, light ginger flavor) , Lemon-Lime (Compare to Sprite® & Seven Up), Orange (Great taste for the whole family) , Pete’s Choice (Compare to Dr Pepper - I also like this one a lot!), Root Beer, Tonic Soda Mix (Contains Quinine. It is very easy being 'green' - Activeion Review and Giveaway

It just may be easy being green after all! Ascending Butterfly is a blog on a mission. Our mission statement is 'To seek out and share the best sources of inspiration both on and off the web'. Living Green has become this PC thing we all feel we should be doing, but sometimes don't know where to start.

There is more to being Green than CFL bulbs! Don't get me wrong they are an incredible start. But I wanted to extend my knowledge a bit, and I wanted to find alternative solutions to the chemical laden cleaning products in my kitchen cabinets! I knew if I wanted to know what other solutions are out there, that you would too.

And then Eureka! One of my favorite talk show hosts, Ellen DeGeneres featured this product on her show, and I thought it was pure genius. I have had over a month now to test out the Activeion Pro.

How does the Activeion technology work?

What is Activeion?

The Activeion hand-held sprayer transforms tap water into a powerful cleaner that works as well as or better than other general-purpose, commercial chemical and "green" cleaning products. Using an advanced technology, the Activeion hand-held sprayer is a general-purpose, daily-use cleaner that can be used on both hard (i.e., marble/granite and stainless steel) and soft surfaces (i.e., carpet and clothing), freeing consumers and professionals from harmful chemicals and toxins. The versatility of the product allows the user to replace many of today's most common daily-use cleaners.

Activeion transforms tap water into a powerful cleaner through a simple, three-step process:

1. Charging: When the trigger is pressed, the water flows through a water cell that applies a slight electrical charge to the tap water.

2. Transforming: Next, the water passes through an ion exchange membrane where the activated water is separated into an oxygenated mixture of positively and negatively charged nano-bubbles.

3. Cleaning: When applied, the transformed, activated water helps lift the dirt from the surface like a magnet, enabling it to be wiped away. The activated water returns to its natural state after 30-45 seconds.

My Experiences with the Product:

I will say after over a month of use that I am very impressed with the ActiveIon Pro! I just couldn't imagine how this product would be able to use plain tap water and tackle my toughest stains. But it has. I love to cook and some of the stains I couldn't wait to tackle was cooking related sauce splattters! The ActiveIon Pro handled these with ease! It made stainless steel faucets and sinks sparkle. And much to my amazement, it handled a very old odd stain that I had tried for years to remove from the tile in my bathroom unsuccessfully with chemical cleaners! That's when I will admit I was 'sold'.

I will remind you when you use it, have your cleaning cloth already at hand, while it seems like 30-45 seconds is a generous amount of charge time, if you are not ready with cloth in hand, or you get distracted, the water will lose it's charge and you will have to re-spray the area.

Follow The Instructions

Fill the reservior with cool tap water only.
Do not fill with hot water.
Do not add anything to the tap water.
Do not fill while the unit is charging, and never, ever add chemicals.

Do The Math

How much do you spend monthly on chemical cleaners? Factor in every cleaner you use, floors, appliances, windows etc. Now multiply that number by 12! That is how much you will save per year using the ActiveIon Pro. Over the cost of it's lifetime not only is it saving you money, you are also ridding your home of dangerous chemicals, ridding your environment of those chemicals, and less plastics and overall product waste to pollute the environment. Readers before you send me anymore emails, I am aware that there was no 'Today's Words of Inspiration' for Wednesday August 12th. My host was down for the bulk of the day and I couldn't post. It was a very frustrating experience to say the least. My apologies for the delays in publishing all the entries for our new giveaway for a Smashbox Cosmetics Palette of your choice. As soon as my host came back up, I've been working on moderating the entries and getting them all posted. So while other sites are focusing on the little ones, Ascending Butterfly is all about focusing on YOU. YES YOU. You remember you don't you?


Before becoming a parent there was a sexy gal in there. One who wanted to look pretty and feel sexy before her dates. We have quite a month ahead here at Ascending Butterfly. And this month is all about releasing your inner sexy.


Don't blush, don't giggle demurely, I know it's all in there just waiting for an excuse to come out!
