Todays Words of Inspiration: Do you really want to say that to the Universe?

Hi Butterfly!

It just felt like high time we had a back to our roots plain and simple Today's Inspiration! Despite everything I've been going through this year, I've been working hard to remain focused and inspired, and I hope you are too!

I can't believe April is almost gone and we are swiftly approaching May. They say April showers bring May Flowers, and I don't know about you, but I'm overdue for 'flowers' in my life lately! I'm definitely ready to let the sun shine in, both through my window and in my heart. How about you?

You know how it is said that 'words have power', that our destiny can be altered with our words and with our thoughts? What you don't say and what you don't believe is just as powerful as what you do say and what you do believe about yourself.

When things are going along swimmingly in your life, are you secretly waiting for the other shoe to drop? When you experience a triumph do you truly believe that you really deserve it?

Today's Inspiration: Be careful that when something good happens to you, you don't say 'I can't believe this is happening to me, I didn't think something this great would ever happen for me.' If you do, the Universe will believe you, and may not send you more. It will believe you are not ready accept more than what you have.

Today's Challenge: When something good happens today, Just say Thank You. To God if you are Faithful/Spiritual or the Universe, or BOTH even better still. Don't say I don't believe this, and go beyond saying WOW, say Thank You, and say you are grateful to see a harvest for your efforts and you will continue to be rewarded because you are telling the Universe you are grateful for what you have received. That gratitude WILL open the pathway to more.

Are you disciplined with money? Are you using your money to create a 'seed' for yourself?

Today's Challenge: Get savvy about money! Make a budget that you stick to. Give up one frivolous spending habit per week and put that money in a savings account instead. Give up one starbucks per week, or give up seeing a new release on opening weekend for one week, and put that money aside for a rainy day, for retirement, or even for a bigger dream purchase like a house or car, you'd be surprised how quickly your simple sacrifice will add up and give you an even bigger harvest later! You CAN do it!

Today's Breathing Affirmation: Close your eyes, take a deep, slow breath in through your nose, and affirm "I am wise with money, I give myself permission to prosper."

After a day mostly spent handling back-to-back conference calls, I decided to get out and spend the remainder of the afternoon in the park. It was when I got home that I realized just how much that small window of time spent in the sun did for my spirits. I arrived at the park feeling tired and left feeling re-energized. There is very little time left of summer, fall will be here very soon! I love this quote, and thought it was perfect for today. Nature is still, and being out in nature is my favorite reminder that our soul truly requires stillness. It recharges our spiritual and emotional batteries.

And better still? I had 3 butterfly sightings while I was there, and one was a Monarch!

Today's Challenge: Be still in Nature. Meditation is wonderful, but can you take your meditation to a park or a beach today? Even a 'walking meditation' will work wonders for the spirit!

Today's Breathing Affirmation: Close your eyes, take a deep, slow breath in through your nose, and affirm "I am always home in the universe, I am a being at Peace."

Todays Words of Inspiration - Disarm From Within!

So the picture above should look familiar if you read yesterdays Not So Wordless Wednesday. I loved that tshirt that I spotted at Exhale Spa last week when I took my first Zumba Class thanks to Degree Women. It really resonated with me. We've spoken here at length about Negative Self Talk and how it sabotages our own progress. So if the negativity and self-defeatist thoughts originate from within, then they need to be disarmed from within and that's where affirmations come in!

Sometimes it is super easy to blame external circumstances for our problems, pains and fears, but just how much of it are we causing ourselves?

You can disarm, by starting from within!

Have No Fear Inspiration is Still Here

I have received a ton of emails lately because the words of inspiration have been Missing in Action! While they appear to have been M.I.A., I want to assure you they are not going anywhere. We are still body, mind, and soul focused. We are still 'Better Life today through Inspiration' focused, and we still want to share daily breathing meditations with you!

A ton of new stuff has been going on, and I will admit I haven't been as good at 'stopping to smell the roses' as I should have! But on the positive side, we have had a plethora of winner announcements and a ton more to come.  Our Mother's Day Buying Guide is going to move at a much faster pace than you are used to. So pay very close attention to happenings and new giveaways this month! We are going to be celebrating Mom  in a big way!

Tonight I will be attending the New York screening of Letters to Juliet. I will give you guys a review tomorrow! Oddly enough, it's a little known fact that I was a film critic for ''The Bronx Observer" many years ago. (No, it's not affiliated with the New York Observer) It was one of many part time jobs that I held as I worked my way through College. One of the highlights of the gig was interviewing the celebs during Press Junkets. I miss those days! Too bad TV wasn't ready to add a Latina to the Siskel and Ebert show!  Maybe I should pitch them now, prime time could use the diversity right?

Springtime Allergies have been adversely affecting my family and friends, and if it's getting you down too, you may not even be aware of how your very house can be playing a part in your seasonal allergies.  There are some great Household Tips you can read HERE.

Spring does have it's good sides. There is waking up to the sounds of birds chirping, all the flowers blooming, trading in the Quilted Parka (with hoodie) for a much lighter rain and shine coat. And better still, that smell in the air, you know, the one that conjures up images of starting anew and smells like hope!

Since April is my birthday month, I am still celebrating the joys of spring! Maybe too much celebrating, I still haven't finished my Spring Cleaning yet. (How are you doing with it? - better than me I hope!)

Let's make our moment of inspiration today a Spring Celebration of  'Self'. As weird as it may sound, you need to slow down to speed up. Let go, to make room for more.

On This Day in History

One of my favorite daily reads is the NY times 'On This Day in History' page. (See today's HERE). Something that stood out for today was 'On April 6, 1909, explorers Robert E. Peary and Matthew A. Henson became the first men to reach the North Pole.' That's a pretty big milestone on what was otherwise an ordinary day.

Not all milestones and achievements make headlines.Which is why Calpurnia's quote from Shakespeare hits home for most of us. "When beggars die there are no comets seen; The heavens themselves blaze forth the death of princes."

But today you can be a hero to someone. And you can conquer a fear or overcome an obstacle. Take your biggest obstacle and break it into tiny pieces and the take it on, one step at a time.

You can do a good deed for someone. You can make today 'On This Day in History' for yourself!

What is your North Pole?  Where can you plant a flag today? What first step can you take to achieving a long sought after goal?

Friday, March 26, 2010 - Weekend Words of Inspiration and Great Giveaways!

Speak The Words

This weekend I want you to participate in an experiment that has the power to change your life in extraordinary ways. It offers much reward,  yet requires very little.

I want you to speak the words you would want said to you in every situation you encounter. For example, if a  friend asks you for your advice regarding a particular situation, put yourself in her place, imagine it was you, and then, speak the words.

If your child asks you what you think about his/her drawing, imagine yourself at that age and that the words being sent out were being spoken to you, then speak the words.

When you run your errands this weekend and encounter an exasperated clerk,  before fighting fire with fire, imagine you having to sacrifice your weekends from now to infinity because you need to make ends meet, then look upon the face of that weary clerk after seeing your own reflected back at you, then and only then, speak the words. The ones you'd want spoken to you.

Value Your Time!

There has been a prevalent theme for me this week about Time, the value I place upon my own time; and the ways in which other people have shown little regard for it.

My efforts, time and energy all have value. So does yours. I've learned the hard way this week that it's important to be firm and specific about the value of your time or no one else will.

As much as we like to think it's limitless, time is a finite resource. You are only given so much of it. Don't be afraid to place value on your time, to decide what you will and won't accept in exchange for it. Don't be so easy to give it away for free; don't be afraid to place a value on it because it is in fact, very precious and very valuable.

What value do you place on your energy and on your time?

Monday, March 22, 2010 - Today's Words of Inspiration and Great Giveaways!

Is it a Dream, a Wish or a Goal?

With Spring being a notorious season of renewal and re-birth, it is second only to New Year's Eve for Goal Setting.

With Spring also falling around the time of my birthday, it's doubly a time of setting goals for myself. Sorting through my dreams, wishes and goals to identify what I want to make happen for myself before my next birthday is not the easiest task.

This is something I undertake very carefully and I urge you to do the same. Try to identify between your wishes, (a sort of free-for-all of things you want),  your dreams (the outcome or destination of a wish fulfilled) and your goals (focused and specific targets that if done right, will help manifest your dreams into reality).

I'm working on a complete overhaul in many areas of my life, and I'm starting by setting goals to free myself of negative patterns and thoughts. An action plan to take me from wishes and dreams to a much happier reality, and in turn a much happier me.

What are your goals for Spring? What are you hoping to achieve before the season of re-birth and renewal comes to an end?

Use 'Today's Words of Inspiration' as a breathing meditation to still your mind, quiet your thoughts and bring in positive energy. This week has flown by!

It's been an incredibly busy week at Ascending Butterfly! As you know we passed two big 1,000 milestones! We have passed the 1,000 email subscriber and google follower mark! It is thanks to each and every one of you that we keep growing strong! It fills me with gratitude that so many people on the blog-a-sphere choose to spend a part of their day with Ascending Butterfly. I have met so many of our wonderful readers in person and it's always amazing how the desire for inspiration brings positive minds from far and wide together! I feel very blessed to have made connections with so many of you, and hope to meet more of you in person!

We also had a winner of our Elliott Lucca bag giveaway, this giveaway was the first in a series of featured bags for Spring 2010. We will be featuring a new bag every two weeks throughout the entirety of the Spring Season. Congrats again 'cdziuba' enjoy spring and your new handbag! I wanted to thank everyone again for taking out the time to tell the sponsor on their facebook page that Ascending Butterfly sent you, it made quite an impact. Please do this whenever you follow a sponsor on Facebook. It makes a great impact on many levels. It helps companies understand the impact that blogs and their readers have on purchasing, a true understanding of our buying power! Most of us turn to blogs first for reviews on products we plan to purchase. We can relate to the advice and experiences of other moms whose blogs we read online. We trust it will be honest, it will comprehensive and tell us just what we need to know. We are a large community with incredible impact, as companies realize just how much blogging and bloggers are the new 'consumer reports' of this decade more and more will be open to hosting reviews and giveaways. One of the best ways they see a return on their investment is in writing, is in you telling them who drove you their way, what product you are interested in etc. So again, THANK YOU READERS. With a quick gesture, you got noticed! You got counted, and your voices were heard!

As you all know, he is certainly one of my favorite sources of daily inspiration, and it fills me with gratitude to be able to share this title with you. As this week has been tremendously fast-paced and busy for me I thought it would be important if we all took a moment to reflect on time and what it means to us. Do we value it? Do we often take it for granted until it's too late?

I've become tremendously aware of time lately because I've had so precious little of it to spare. I am a Spring baby. Spring is the season of renewal. The clocks have 'sprung ahead', and the weather is finally showing some signs of promise around here!

My birthday falls on Easter Sunday this year! (I'm thinking that means cake AND chocolate easter baskets and bunnies are in order! Hey, are the 'Bake me a Wish' folks reading this?)

While I'm looking forward to better weather with happy anticipation, I have a strong feeling this is going to be a very busy time for me, and I'm going to need to rely on meditation and personal time for rest and relaxation now more than ever to remain centered.

THE BIG 1,000!

Today, Ascending Butterfly reached a milestone we most certainly never expected to reach so far before  our one year 'blog-a-versary', we have reached the 1,000 follower mark on google friends connect! We now have 1,000 followers and over 1,100 email subscribers. And it's all thanks to each and every one of you! THANK YOU!

Would You Really Say That To A Friend?

Ask yourself this question today, Would you say that to a friend? Before saying anything to yourself ask that question!

Our self talk, the words that play in our heads as we react to people and situations in our day to day to life are very powerful. Somehow those non-verbal words that you never speak aloud, and say only to yourself are even more powerful than those spoken aloud.

Sometimes we are way more critical with ourselves than we are with others. Sometimes we are our own worse enemies, and say meaner things to ourselves than we would ever dream of saying to a friend! Why can't we be as supportive of ourselves as we are to our friends?

Today focus on being as kind to YOURSELF as you are to everyone in your life. If someone drops something would you yell at them? Then don't yell at yourself. If someone forgot something at the store, would the world end? Then don't berate yourself if something on your 'to-do' list goes undone!

Be as supportive of yourself and your own needs and initiatives as you are with everyone else. Making an active point and a concerted effort to do this daily will entirely change your outlook regardless of your circumstances!

Are you getting the dreaded 'Your Entry Can't Be Processed' message when leaving an entry or comment? Before hitting enter, highlight your comment and COPY it. If you get that message after hitting enter and your comment is still there, just ignore the message and hit enter again, then you will get a screen with a captcha code, enter the captcha code, then submit and VOILA. If after you hit the submit button the first time, you get the dreaded message and the comment 'disappeared' no worries, that's why I asked you to copy it in the first step. Paste it back in and submit again. This has worked for me when comment boxes have glitched on me, and I hope it helps you too!

Set the Day to Music

I've spent most of the day singing along to music, a playlist with all my favorites has been the soundtrack to most of my day today.

I'm not saying it made my work any easier, but I certainly enjoyed doing it more. But even more fun was having others sing along with me! Most experiences are just that much better and more fun when shared. Doesn't it seem to go by faster when you are talking to someone in the line at the Bank or the Post Office?

Today I encourage you to reach out. Make a connection, and I don't mean a virtual one. Talk to someone. I can guarantee it will make your day 'lighter', better somehow; and theirs as well.

Use 'Today's Words of Inspiration' as a breathing meditation to still your mind, quiet your thoughts and bring in positive energy. As you inhale bring in only positive energy by saying in your mind, I breathe in positive energy (or you can say creative energy if that is what you wish to create more of) and as you exhale, Affirm out loud today 'I embrace new connections!'

Spend some time each day enjoying focused breathing AND soul guided meditative visualization, in doing so, you can bring about amazing, profound and powerful changes in your life.

Visualize yourself manifesting something unique, guided by universal forces that emerge spontaneously from within your soul. Do this at least twice today and see how by taking a moment away from the hectic pace and breathing in positive energy and affirming what you wish to create, your thinking will become different.

Remember, attitude really does determine altitude.

Surround Yourself with High-Energy People

Today I am directly quoting one of my favorite sources of inspiration, Dr. Wayne Dyer, in the title of today's inspiration and this quote:

"Choose to be in close proximity to people who are empowering, who appeal to your sense of connection to intention, who see the greatness in you, who feel connected to God, and who live a life that gives evidence that Spirit has found celebration through them."

They say tell me who your friends are, and I can tell you who you are! Are you positive and upbeat? Do your friends drag you down? Are they mired in negativity? Worse still, are they 'glass half-empty' types who are not happy until those around them are un-happy too?

I've been actively applying this inspiration to my own life, and highly encourage you to do the same. Surround yourself with people you respect, people you admire, people who are up-lifting. Don't get me wrong, troubles do no pass some of us by and go torment others. Positive people have problems too, they just don't allow those problems to take over their spirits while they are dealing with them. And because they have learned to remain light spirited, to walk in life not just saying but knowing that they are 'too blessed too be stressed' they attract positive people and experiences unto themselves.

You can possess this spirit also! You can actively choose to make yourself optimistic and face each day with renewed enthusiasm or you can allow your problems to keep you mired in un-happiness. If you remain negative and constantly attract more negative people and experiences to you, you can't grow spiritually, emotionally or even physically!

I love Dr. Dyer's words about surrounding yourself with people who see the 'greatness within you', remember this does not mean surrounding yourself with 'yes men' it means surrounding yourself with people who are quicker to point out what you do well and what you have accomplished that is working for you as opposed to those who would rather spend time nit-picking over 'perceived' flaws.

I always feel like I've had a better day when I've spent it in the company of up-lifting people! Seek out your 'uplifting Ursula' today and send the 'negative Nelly's' to voicemail! Let's actively get uplifted! And don't forget to be a source of high energy to those you love today and everyday.
